I have realised that as the reds, very few goals have been scored directly from corners. Personally I can remember two. Torres header aganist man city and Hyppia's aganist Newcastle utd. Any thoughts and more goals this season of 08/09 ?

Both goals in the Carling Cup against Spurs.

Both Babel corners and goals for Plessis and Hyypia.

Looking forward for a player like Skrtel to score from a corner kick. He seems to have a powerful header and the advantage of height. Agger and Hyppia always seem to be favourites to score from corner kicks..

It would help if the corner kick taker could get it up in the air and over the first defender!

Not many goals have been scored when Stevie G takes the corners and to me he is wasting his time,he should be around the edge of the area waiting to pounce, defenders are far more happy if he is at the corner flag rather than circling around the box waiting for the loose ball, well thats in opinion.

And a good one too IMO.

Any sloppy clearances that would drop to Gerrard's feet, about 18-20 yards out... you know where they'll finish.

Agreed.  Hate to see Gerrard to take the corners, he should be at the edge of the box ready to hammer it back in.  And if an opponent clears you need Gerrard not at the edge of the pitch but there in the middle to hunt them down.

Surely somebody else can take them.

From the tally, the reds seems to have scored only five goals until after the hull game directly from corners.  Seems to have conceded less. I stand corrected

Aurelio. It frustrates me because our best passer of the ball just cannot take a corner kick. Shame.

But we definitely want Gerrard there hanging around outside the box pouncing on any weak clearances.
