      Something about the pathos in the lyric set against the gentle melody just gets me.......plus I’ve always greatly appreciated Sarah Cracknell’s artistry  :angel:

      Absolute bonafide classic.

      “Somebody said that someone got filled in;
      For saying that people get killed in;
      The result of this shipbuilding”

      Brutal synopsis of Thatcher’s Britain.

      Yeh - it was actually written for Robert Wyatt. Costello always describes his own version as the cover.

      Here’s Wyatt’s version.

      Correct mate.. such a great song..and Wyatt's version is ace too.
      I've always been a big Elvis Costello fan although I remember when he released "Good year for the Roses" after his punk era and everyone thought he'd lost it ! I thought it was a brilliant deflection and a reminder to everyone just what a brilliant songwriter he is.

      Yeah me too mate. Lyrically made me think more than any other songwriter in the English language.

      Was listening to an original vinyl copy of “Get Happy” last week.......
