Apart from the solitary reassurance that things aren't what they seem, this thread is hugely entertaining and the deeper in the sh*t the mancs get the more joyful it becomes.

Short term United will be fine, but if the massive gamble they have undertaken fails...

That's the one, there's no middle ground for them. It's either success or failure with success apparently being 3rd and failure 4th or below. No matter how they look at it they're failing and long may it last.

5th or below and I'll be happy.

Van Gaal definitely out if they don't get top 4 then?

Would absolutely love to see them panic-sack him after a battling 6th-place finish and cause even more instability within that imbalanced squad of theirs.

They're looking good in this game but then again QPR being absolutely non-existent helps a little.

Helps a lot I'd say. The defence still looks very suspect. A half decent team will sus that out and exploit it, they'll not always get their own way.
Buying their way out of trouble, not the United way, or so they'd have you believe.
City and Chelsea must be laughing!

United have been sh*te this season but even I backed them to win by 4+ goals in that game. If anyone watched the Spurs game against QPR they'd have known this was the absolute perfect game for United, they could play all their attacking players without fear of being pushed back and just enjoy the only side of the game they have some quality.

Even the few times they were asked to defend in this game they looked awful, Rangers could have easily had a couple of goals. So let them write how things are turning around, this is the start of their season etc but in reality nothing has changed and when they meet decent opposition they'll be shown exactly where they are.

I agree with what you said about Spurs. The same thing happened with them after they trounced QPR. The media couldn't get enough of them and look what happened to them, haven't won a game since. Also, there are a few similarities with Lamela's performance then and Di Maria's today. Both looked really good, fluid and smart on the ball. But then again, what half decent player wouldn't when given as much space as QPR have given them?

If I was a QPR fan I'd be really worried about what's gonna happen to them because the other two promoted teams, Leicester and Burnley, aren't rolling over for anyone and Harry's men are getting trounced everytime they go away from home.

As for Utd, their defence is very shaky still and any half decent counter attack will put them in trouble.

The problem I see with them buying all those players is that they could very well go to many of the lesser sides in this league and hammer them with their attacking options.

Fergie always like to have plenty of attacking threat.
If they get a few results like this the Fear Factor could creep back in.

Look what it did for Liverpool last season when teams feared the "SAS".

Suddenly teams will attack less and give them space.
RVP, Rooney, Falcao, Mata, Di Maria.

That's some serious firepower even if you drop two to the bench.
Enough to make some teams sit off.
That in itself prevents their sh*t mid & defence from being exposed.

Credible threat maybe against a newly promoted side mate.
The 'sitting off them' will only apply to teams the calibre of QPR, the majority of their opposition will have the wherewithal to examine and expose their weaknesses.
Look forward to them being ripped a new one by a half decent team.

All they need is a few easy games to allow the aura to build.
They've a few more before Chelsea and City truly test them.

Blind did look good, but how will he perform against those two?

So now they're 'back' and are going to win the league, is the owl moon lighting as their press officer? You beat QP F***ing R at home, the mighty QPR, not Barca, not Real, not LFC, QPR. if £150m can't make you beat them in your own gaff then you may well have been better just shutting up shop.

The 'aura' will take some creating bud with the transparent midfield and the feather-light defence, whatever opinion of Vidic, Evra and Ferdinand they smothered the opposing strikers very efficiently thereby acquitting their role as an integral part of the team.
They are no more, pastures new, sinking ships or whatever but what is in place now is of no comparison.
If QPR had gotten out of their own half it would have caused no end of tactical adjustment, as it was the panic button was not utilised - this time.

Agree with a lot of the above, and to take out the hatred and try to be impartial....  Their attack is up there with the best in the world.

So there are goals in the team, no doubt about it.

Easy away game too for them next.

Will be interesting to see them up against City, Chelsea, Arsenal us and Everton though.

They have a very potent attack now and against a team like QPR who apparently have no attack at all, then of course they are going to threaten but against any other team in the league they will concede goals and a lot of them. I still don't see them as a major threat at all and still consider Us, Chelsea, Citeh, Arse, Spuds and the Bitters as superior teams.

I watched the highlights show yesterday and as much as their attack, on paper, looked very threatening, all 4 of those goals should have been defended a hell of a lot better.

A better team would have not conceded 4.

Is correct bud, QPR were what they were - still playing second tier football.
