Liverpool footballer Dirk Kuyt passed on some training tips to a team cycling from London to Paris in aid of Hoylake Cottage.
The Dutch striker who has cycled from the age of three, invited the sporty fundraisers to Melwood for a motivation boost.
The five women taking part in the 310km route met Dirk in a break from his own training, and were congratulated on their efforts so far.
“It was really inspiring to meet Dirk and a great boost to all of us in our long distance cycle training,” said team member Helen Latham, director of fundraising at Hoylake Cottage.
“We are hoping to raise lots of money for the Hoylake Cottage Day Care Appeal, which is urgently needed to replace the current outdated centre.”
The cyclists set off from London on June 26, arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on June 28.
Top Man our Dirk. The Cottage Hospital has just been done up. Well actually re-built. not been in it as I'm too young, but from the outside looks top notch.
