Messi gets Mascherano's vote

The best player in the world should be a player who has contributed the most to his team over the course of the year.

That means that Gerrard, Iniesta, Lampard and allot more players should win it
Messi scored the most goals. But how much assists does he have? How much times did he saved his team from failure? How much times did he did something special except scoring goals, like helping his team mates in defence when they couldn't handle a player or two? Scoring goals is one thing, but the best player of the year "should be a player who has contributed the most to his team over the course of the year", not the one who scored the most.

The best player in the world is based on the impact that player has had on his team throughout the course of the season. Last year it was Ronaldo, this year it has been Messi. Next year it could be Van Der Vaart, Gerrard or someone else.

Seriously mate I dont know what football have you been watching. Messi ISN'T crowned the best player on the planet yet. The results aint out yet and you seem to know it already. And next year VDV? Oh please he hasn't been playing for Real at all, not even in the starting eleven and you can call him world player of the year.
