Who would you have as your penalty taker?

Mine would be carragher cos i cant remember seeing him miss and he strolls up with confidence and it would bump his goal tally up for the reds
      who would you have.

Fowler's probably the most natural finisher in the squad so he should be the main taker, but then again he seldom starts.

I think none of the first team players look convincing enough to take a penalty without us worrying. Stevie G's missed a couple. Bellamy missed one a few matches ago. Alonso had his saved by Dida in Istanbul before his rebound. Carra's missed in the WC. Hyppia missed in the last FA cup. Riise missed in Istanbul. Crouchy? Best penalty miss ever happened against Jamaica. Kuyt? Not too sure. The rest, not too sure.

Gillett and Hicks however could solve this for us though by landing Villa.

FOWLER  is clearly the best taker at the club, shame he doesnt start more often, dirk has to be the choice,as stevie, alonso, crouchy, bellamy, alonso dont inspire confidence at all.

If he's on the pitch, it's got to be Fowler.

Otherwise I'd just stick with Gerrard. I know he's missed in the past but so have the others, who have taken less pens. Not sure about Kuyt because I don't think I've seen him taking a pen...

It would always, always have to be Robbie for me.  I can't understand why he doesn't get to play.  He must be so frustrated - I know I am and my dogs get so excited when he comes on.  They run around barking like mad.
He just touches the ball and it's magic!
i must just say that i am a big Robbie fan!!  In case you hadn't noticed

Bizarrely. I wouldn't trust ANY of the strikers.  Is that a sign you think?

Thinking about it most of them have had misses.  Alonso - Champions League final (although he did get the rebound!). Carragher, Gerrard for England.  Gerrard's missed a fair few for us too in important games.  Riise - it's a danger.

Hamann was the best.  I'd have to go for Kuyt only cos I have never seen him take a pen I don't think.

It's a weird one, we seem to have little faith in our players to score a pen regularly, but we've won 9 out of 10 penallty shootouts.
Gerrard usully gets the nod, but for me Kuyt.

      Blast from the past! 2007!

See what I did there, I used the search function.

But seriously, with Gerrard now gone, who do we think will be taking the penalties next season, and beyond?

We've had a few in Gerrard's absence, I think with reasonable success, but who will be given the monkey that is penalty taker?

      Milner?
      Lambert?
      Balotelli?
      Sturridge?
      Henderson?
      Mignolet?

I reckon Sakho would burst the F***ing net!

      Or hit row Z.

Either would be quite entertaining though.

In all seriousness has to be Coutinho for me. Think he would step up with confidence and bury them every time.

      Phil for me.

I'd say Mario but he's highly unlikely to be here and even if he is it isn't ideal to have your first choice pen raker being on the bench.

I doubt there's been many chances for him to take a penalty in the past 5 years or so with the likes of Aguero, Yaya, Kolarov etc ahead of him in the pecking order. Not fully sure on his penalty history though.

And set pieces. Don't fancy Hendo for free kicks, would be interesting to see Coutinho become a regularly taker, I read somewhere that he was renowned for his free kicks before he joined inter.

Hendo has to be kept as far away from free kicks as possible.

Off the cuff I'd say Coutinho or Lallana. Possibly Milner.

Don't know...I'm going by the free kicks I've seen him take that were direct and meant to be on goal but ended up no where close to the goal.

      So would I.

That is, if the FA decide that for every indiscretion by an LFC player on or off the pitch the penalty paid is a kick in the bollocks.

Take one for the team Mario, ya gimp.

If Mario stays and plays I'd go with him, Lallana's not to shabby if I remember but I'd go with Emre, I think we will see a massive change in him this season, BR wants to put him in midfield where he will thrive, and where he himself prefers to play, I can see a powerful box to box type in Emre, adding goals and assists to his already impressive attacking play, such a shame he was out of position too many times last season a missed opportunity if I'm honest,

But yeah there are one or two we can confidently put forward for the spot kicks, best not ask Raheem, he'll be on to his greedy KUNT of an agent wanting a pay rise !     :f_tongueincheek:

Sturridge would get my vote, think he would bury 9 out of 10, if Balo stays and he starts regularly you can't go far wrong.

Coutinho is the man for free kicks, for shooting at least.

Sturridge would get my vote, think he would bury 9 out of 10

Lets just hope that his last one isn't anything to go by.

Hendo will be penalty taker next season, think that became apparent with the whole thing with Balo taking it when Hendo was "meant" to be or whatever was going on.

As long as whoever takes it, scores it, I don't care who takes them.

I'd give it to Mario if the lad gets a fair crack next season.

      Thats the Plan Shabs .

      Cracked it mate.

      They can justify keeping him.

      Of course. Silly me.

if he is on the pitch Mario all day long he's the best in the team, if he's not then milner or henderson but i think we lack a solid pen taker as Lambert will probably go this summer and unless we buy a striker who is brave enough to take pens we wont have a pen taker there.

its not an issue and i dont see why every player from 12 yards with a dead ball cant at least hit the target!

Mario is quality at penners, if we could just keep him for that. ;D

just to get his already questionable goals-to-game ratio up? F**k Mario... dont let him near them!!

If either of Balotelli or Lambert stays and plays, definitely them. I can't see either staying though, so I'd go with Coutinho. I remember he knocked one in a couple of years ago at Preston, just rolled it in the corner with ridiculous ease.

I know it'd be a different pressure in competitive games but if he makes it look as easy as he does the rest of his game, he'd be a great penalty taker.

On free kicks, I'd probably go with Phil again.

Don't discount Milner, he has had some wicked free kicks in the past.
