Merseyside giants battle for £5million Boro star?

Gary O’Neil is a reported target for both Everton and Liverpool.

The 26-year-old midfielder is one of the players expected to leave Middlesbrough following their relegation from the Premier League, and former club Portsmouth are keen to take him back.

However, the former England Under-21 skipper could instead be heading to Merseyside, with both the Toffees and the Reds willing to pay £5million for his signature.

This isn’t the first time Rafael Benitez has been linked with O’Neil, after the Spaniard failed with an offer of the same amount to take the player to Anfield in 2005.

I think he would make a good squad addition, but considering we have got 3 boss players in that position and Lucas waiting, then for 5 million?

No thanks, money could be spent better elsewhere, we certainly don't need strengthening in the centre of midfield, its boss enough, why ain't we looking at the other positions such as CB, RB and LW instead?

unfortunately we do not have much money in the kitty due to those american imperilists so spending what little we have on a second rate midfielder is not the answer we need one striker and one out and out winger we will need to sell before we buy so i reckon we sell of babel,lucas, dossena and bring in tevez and silva pure quality

im sick of liverpool being linked with all these poo players we need sum1 to improve our squad not sum1 to sit on the bench
