Absolute joke, I’m no England fan but what does it say about the state of the nations football when you’re handing out caps and squad places to dress it up as being a ‘farewell’.

He achieved F**k all in an England shirt anyway, you could show a 10 second montage of all his tournament goals.

Not so sure I agree with your second paragraph red but do agree with first. England Caps are suppose to mean something, this makes a mockery of the system.

People are overthinking this. It's a friendly against USA, It will be nice for Rooney to finish on 120 caps rather than 119 etc...
Additionally he's playing in USA now so it feels like one of those games that is more like a testimonial than anything. I'm not Rooney's biggest fan but he's always been there when called up, not like some people who retired early. He lacked technique later on but I don't think it's his fault, England managers didn't always play him effectively, he needed to be dropped deeper later in his career. He deserves a good farewall to his England career.

you can be happy it means one less Liverpool player in the line up to accommodate him though right?

Its the way the media grab hold of them and start making them into winners before they have won anything. Also its the representative of the FA and mainly a London supported team. When they moved the games around the Country it allowed people to see the team and the atmosphere was so much  better and now after the World Cup its all a bit Meh again.

Hearing great and seeing great things about Sancho. If England wants to get the maximum from this incredibly gifted youngster then it's best Sancho stays in Germany where he can have the opportunity to develop to a greater level than if he was in the Premier League. In addition to that, the footballing culture is far more mature and thoughtful than the easy excess and at times brainless, jurassic era football that is the norm outside the big 6 in England. Also, he wouldn't have to contend with the voyeuristic English press who would scrutinise every little thing he does as is the norm for bright English talent in this country. In Germany, they breed winners and they solidify a winning mentality within the minds of their players. It is the best place for him to be in and kudos to the young lad for doing what so many other British players chicken out of doing - leaving his comfort zone and going abroad to give his game the very best opportunity. And at Dortmund, you won't find a better place to be.

England starting with Sterling is ridiculous. If that was Lingard it would be 1-0. Sterling can't score in big games.
