UEFA to announce decision on Blues striker's Euro outburst

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will learn his fate following his outburst in the last season's UEFA Champions League defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ivory Coast international caused controversy in the wake of the dramatic semi-final loss as he stormed onto the field after the final whistle to confront referee Tom Henning Ovrebo.

Drogba was angered that the Norwegian match official failed to award Chelsea four perceived penalties at Stamford Bridge and continued his rant in front of TV cameras, branding the referee a 'disgrace'.

The forward's manager at the time of the event, Guus Hiddink, empathised with the eruption, saying: "I can completely understand his reaction and his behaviour after the game."

Drogba, though, accepted he overreacted and issued an official apology after the match in May, which eventual champions Barcelona won on away goals courtesy of a late Andres Iniesta strike.

The 31-year-old - and team-mate Jose Bosingwa, who has been investigated for comments about the match officials - will now discover his punishment, which could be a six-game European ban.

Six game European ban sounds good to me, the less I see this guy on screen the better!

Why are two suspended for two years? So that means that he will miss most of the group stage then next year.

Do they have to play a qualifying round? If so then he'll miss two of the group games (if they qualify).

Not this year mate no, I think all 4 English teams are already in the group stage without having to qualify.

Just a bit off topic, I can't believe that Michael Bollock never got any sort of punishment, it seems to be totally ignored    Surely that should of been in the refs match report ?  He was right in the face of the referee and nearly knocked his head off !!

Drogba was a disgrace that night. He deserves the maximum ban, and hopefully the Chav's will get knocked out in Group stages and I don't have to see that diving scum on TV.

I agree with Smigger also, I thought Ballack's actions where equally as bad as Drogba's, so he should also get a ban.

Not really as he will miss 2 qualifing games and no doubt Chelsea will appeal which will see the ban reduced to 3 games,so he will prob end up just missing 1 group game.

Chelsea will not play qualifiers as the top 3 English teams have automatic entry into the group stage this year. Only Arsenal will need to play the qualifying phase, I do believe they will appeal and he will get 2-3 games. I also am confused as to how Ballack did not get anything for his antics, Bosingwa also got 3 matches.

At the end of the day its going to be a pain in the arse for the Chavs as hes their focal point up front , so thats ok by me, to be honest its more than i thought they would give him.

Good ths way we're not paried up with them in any of the knock out stages !
