Does the Carling Cup only go as far as League One or Two?

All 4 divisions. Prem, Champ, Div 1 & Div 2.

Used to be Called (pre sponsorship) The League Cup. It is the Football League's version of the Football Asossication's Cup, The FA Cup. Generally the poorer cousin.

So yes, Only the 4 leagues are involved. I guess as the Prem is not a member of the Football League, they are included as without them it would die.

Just remember we're the team that has won the League Cup the most times.

Wouldn't mind a decent little run in the League Cup next season, finally get to decorate Wembley.

I still find it a disgrace that Newcastle and Boro weren't in round 1. It's meant to be the 20 Prem teams who get a bye to round 2 and then those in Europe get a bye to round 3.

Nice little money-spinner for Burton away to Reading I see.

The carling cup is often a stepping stone to success in a major competition. I mean look at 2005 Chelsea and us in the final. Chelsea win the league.. we win the Champo League. United last season and the season before won the carling cup and twice went on to be crowned champions. I'd love to see us have a good go in 2009/2010 at this competition. Of course its going to be lower on the priority list than the other three competitions but its a chance to go to the new Wembley and we certainly cant turn our nose up at that. We hopefully will have a quality squad next season capable of fighting on four fronts right till the end. The carling cup would make a very nice start in a trophy charge
