If you haven't downloaded Spotify you need you're head examining.
      (Download free pass here http://www.spotify.com/en/products/free/)

If you have downloaded it then fire some of the spotify urls in here to share. (Right click on the track or album and Get HTTP Link)

Let's you listen to practically any song. In full.  Basically it's like iTunes but instead of your songs, about a billion gazillion songs.

Anyway, here's a good playlist somebody made.

All the UK number ones in chronological order. About 1000 songs there. Would take 2 and half days to get through them all.

Spotify sets its sights on iPhone
      By Rory Cellan-Jones
      Technology correspondent, BBC News

The Swedish music streaming service Spotify is planning to launch its first mobile application within weeks.
The company has submitted the application to Apple's iTunes App Store for its approval.

If given clearance, Spotify's service will then be available for users to download onto iPhones. Spotify has been called an "iTunes killer" because of its ease of use and its comprehensive, free library of millions of songs. It is also looked on as a possible saviour for the music industry, in its bid to offer alternatives to piracy.

The application is designed to search for new music and will allow users to temporarily store playlists to their phone for use when there is no connection. It will also allow users to stream playlists.
Spotify has said the application will be free, but will require a premium subscription to use. The premium service, which currently costs £9.99 a month allows uses to use Spotify on their computers without adverts.

The service, which launched last year, now has more than two million users in the UK, and more than six million across Europe.
It has not yet launched in the United States but says it intends to do so by the end of the year.
The company has already demonstrated an application for mobile phones running Google's Android software, though that has not been made available to the public.

Here's my playlist if anyone's interested.  It's called Upbeat Classics To Lift Your Day, rock orientated from 70's, 80's, & a little bit of the 90's.  At the moment there is over 30 tracks that I've added.

So go on then!  Lift your day!  ;)

Good job nobody took me up on that offer.

Looks like it's been approved and will be on the iPhone very soon.  IF, and it's a huge IF, this is available over 3G - this could be massive and I'm sure plenty of people will pay the £9.99 a month to Spotify.

      Would you?

Surely that is going to kill record sales.

Artists can't be happy with that?

Just been added to the App Store and on my phone. You need to sign up to be a premium member so I may give it a one month whirl (if that's possible)

Paid for a month to see what it's like.

And it's brilliant.  You can sync as many songs as your phone holds for offline listening if you are somewhere with no network.

      Fantastic.

Apple will probably find this an absolute farce in a couple of months, and regret ever putting Spotify on their iPhones.

I don't think they had any choice. It's going on to the Google Android phones, and coming on to the S-series phones and the Bollockberry very shortly.

Still cracking on the iPhone. I'm still happy to pay for it so it must be decent.  Probably would put up with the free ad version if I was just using it on the computer - but using it 'on the go' makes it worth it. Plus it syncs with your playlists and you can download the tracks to your phone so you can play the music even when you've got no signal.

Can i ask what the difference is between using this and simply downloading music on a program like Limewire/Frostwire etc.? (Other than obvious being it's illegal)

      You don't get viruses.

The music is exactly what it says it is.

Streams immediately and you can move to where you want in the song.

Basically it is exactly like using iTunes but with a million gazillion songs in your library. Plus you can use it on your phone when your out and about. Again a bit like having an iPod with a 3 million gazillion GB memory. ;)

      Did I mention it's legal.

Wait so it is EXACTLY like iTunes?
So say you have Spotify open, (just like you would have iTunes) and you plug your iPod in, and your iPod recognises Spotify and you just put your songs on your iPod like iTunes would?
Or is it just to download them? :P And THEN move them into iTunes?

Good thing I got this about a year ago.

Couldn't bear just 20h of music a week with Spotify Open. Reckon they'll discontinue the free version?

      Sooner or later I reckon.

I'm debating whether to get the premium one. But I need to get a new stereo for my car as the current one only plays cd's with no line in.

      Can anyone help?

I can listen to an album in order on my iPad with ease, but on the iPhone app, all I get is the shuffle option.

      Is that the only option?
Do I have to make a playlist?
And why oh why, is the GUI's totally different?

You'll need to upgrade to Premium in order to play songs in order on mobile!

F**k that, £10 a month, when the iPad does it for free.
