The reason hes still playing in the states is because he couldn't cut it in Europe. If my memory serves me correctly he spent some time with Bayer Leverkusen and couldn't cut it there, so theres no way he would here. He would be as useful as a one legged Andrea Dossena.

Not that ive seen much of Javi Martinez, but id see him as a decent buy. I hope it doesnt come to this though

I'm not one for you tube videos to prove a point but as you have said you have not seen much of Javi Martinez I think this 1 video portrays some of the qualities I have stated he has i.e Great engine box to box player with good vision can go past his man knows when to release the ball and is a good passer of the ball.

 So why are we rating him at a miserable 30/35 mill, (and this is in regards to mascherano too )when all the teams in europe are valuing their players (not as good as xabi )50/60 or  more mill.
   He just signed an extension ,so we should do like everyone is doing , we value our player and if any team wants their services ,JUST meet our valuation or else F*ck off

I second that option. Two great players who could well fill the gap and are available. They need to make space for Kaka and that other c**t.

personally i follow italian football on sat and do not see him as fitting  in the PL , he is 33 ,he is slow, and hardly completes 90 mins in the italian league

Like for like would be extremely difficult, i do think martinez is a good shout wed certainly lose abit in the passing capabilities(although there is potential for improvement) but wed probably make up somewhat for that as he is much more mobile than xabi. But personally i say if we get 30m+ go in for aguero and push stevie back, ud still see gerrard in that role when either aguero or torres were out and then lucas and spearing may get more of a shot in the center. I do think silva is top priority though

Think I heard Joao Moutinho from Sporting mentioned at some point anyone seen him play at all (or even have a dreaded youtube vid).

sneijder (sp.) from madrid, i think he was their best (outfield) player when they came to anfield (Not saying much i know). i remeber he hit a really sweet 40 yard freekick, that was only inches wide. good player, him and say 20 million? for xabi.

but then with aureillo out, and arby probably going were going to need another LB, insua isnt old enough to play all our games till xmas.

possibly arbelola and xabi for heinze and sneijder (or gago, who i really rate, and he's really young, like 22/23) and then obviously a good amount of cash, about 20 million, enough to cover Silva?

i dont want to see xabi go, he's vision and passing is amazing, but him and arbelola for sneijder/gago, heinze and Silva.

He is more of a attacking mid than Alonso though I know Veloso who also plays for Sporting is highly touted as a good holding mid-fielder.
