      Just finished Annihilation.

Loved Alex Garlands debut Ex Machina but this one just left me feeling flat.

A good film but I was expecting more.

Phantom Thread, what an odd ending, but I enjoyed the film!!!

I, Tonya is a decent film too. I was a kid when that sh*t happened and don't particularly remember much of it.

Looks like Danny Boyle is set to direct the next James Bond film.

Agreed, left me quite disappointed.  I actually watched it twice because the first time I was half asleep and felt like I wasn't paying enough attention.  Wish I hadn't bothered with a second viewing.  Some good, trippy visuals but otherwise felt flat to me too.  Do not understand all the rave reviews.

Also watched Mute on Netflix as well and it was even worse.  Too many ideas and the plot was all over the place.  I'm a fan of Duncan Jones' other work but I cannot believe it took him so many years to make this mess.

Aye, a very good choice indeed.  Talk of Christopher Nolan doing the next Bond when Daniel Craig is done too.

I could never get into Bond, only lasted 15 mins on one of the revamped Bond film. Last full Bond I watched was the car surfing crap vs a North Korean, face changing boss or some sh*t!

However, If Tom Hardy were to play Bond... :D

Love the Daniel Craig Bond films, Casino Royale and Skyfall will easily be up there as among the best Bond films around.
Plus the fact Craig is from Ormskirk and supports the reds too helps!!

      Marathon man .
One of the many great thrillers to come out of the '70s & there was many, this is right up there with the best,Hoffman excels in this as does sir Lawrence Olivier it is also directed by one of the finest British directors this country has ever produced the late great John Schlesinger, the infamous dental scene still packs a wallop even today.
As a side note for those who liked the film I highly recommend the William Goldman book from which this film is based on,it's even better than the film.

      Spiderman Homecoming.

Average. Just isn't Spiderman for me and felt too much of an 'MCU' film than a true Spiderman film if that makes sense.

Too much tech in the suit, Iron Man lite, no jaw dropping scenes of Spidey swinging through the city and many of the jokes just felt flat.

Watched a couple on my flights this week.

Justice League....wow was it hot trash.

The Promise. This one was good. Can’t believe it bombed at the box office. I thought it was a very touching film and I never really knew about the Armenian genocide by the Turks. A great film for me.

I get what you mean, but it depends on which version you grew up with, and I grew up with the Ultimate Spider-man, so Homecoming (- MJ) felt like the Spiderman for me.

      A Quiet Place.
A film  told more or less in virtual silence, there is talking but it's either signed or whispered ,there is No exposition: the viewer is simply dropped right into the film so no opening montage or narration, Glimpses of newspaper headlines are all you get regarding the story so  We know as much as the characters do.
This film had me on my toes as much as the characters ,the tension is relentless and never lets go.
One hell of film & for horror fans it is a must see film

Saw the trailer of that and didn't quite know what to make of it but it seems reaction to it has been really good. I usually love Spielberg's sci fi blockbusters and it's been a while since he had a crack at one so I would love to check it out.

If you're going to watch it try and catch it on the big screen mate. I seen it on our local Maxx and it looked glorious.

Not much in the way of plot but a hell of a lot of fun with countless 80's pop culture references.

Great to see Spielberg making a fun movie again.

That's good to hear Si and I'll take your word for it. I love Spielberg's historical dramas and all that but the other side of his appeal lies in the proper blockbuster/popcorn chewing hits like Jaws and Jurassic Park so it's great to know that he is playing up to that 'fun' side of his again.

Caught Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs on Netflix just earlier. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it - Michael Fassbender was absolutely superb in the lead role.
