Bottas hit with a 5 grid penalty for change of gearbox. Similar to Hamilton's last week. Alonso, predictably, hit with a 30 grid penalty which is a shame because he looked good in practice.

Getting really tired of this rule that sees drivers penalised for something out of their control. If it continues to blight the likes of those at the top of the championship like Bottas and Hamilton then it threatens to ruin the whole championship. A stupid stupid rule that exemplifies the most stupid, nonsensical side of the sport.

Agree and its even more stupid when they give penalties such as 30 grid places when there isn't even 30 cars on the grid.

Wow! That pole lap by Lewis Hamilton is one for the ages. Half a second faster than Kimi in second place. The crowd absolutely wild for that! That's what Silverstone's all about!

      Made up for Lewis.

Great drive from Bottas & Vettle looks like this could be a championship game changer with the deficit reduced to 1 point.

Woah!!! What a F***ing race! The way Lewis and Valtari both drove was peerless - Toto must be a very proud man tonight! Could not believe it when the Ferrari's tyres both went pop! And shout out to Max for that epic dicing with Vettel...who actually looked ragged throughout the whole race. Agree with Shabs - seems like a game changer this race. Wonderful race!

I couldn't help but be overjoyed ( biased ) and it was certainly pivotal moment for the championship as it now makes it very exciting before we head to the break after the Hungarian race. "Go on Hammy"  ;D

Not a bad race for once.

From the drivers championship it certainly made things A WHOLE lot more interesting but I'm disappointed when looking at the constructors table. Would love if Ferrari won their first title in 10 years so seeing that happen particularly Kimi being affected, was a bit of a let down. Nonetheless it was dramatic!

Oh and what about Danil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz Jr?! The torpedo strikes again!

Could we be seeing Carlos Sainz Jr in a Renault from the next race on? Unlikely but it would be a great signing for Renault providing a long term option for them. A full works team once more with Hulk and Sainz as the drivers could go places.

Really enjoyed that. As good an insight into the fan experience of a British GP weekend as I've ever read! Shame about the unsavoury individual you came across but you'll always get them won't you?! Don't know why racer but I never had you down as as Schumi fan!

You get them everywhere. Best ignored.

Senna and Prost were my vintage.
Schuey was an idea we had for different merchandise rather than the norm.
Number he had in the Jordan 191 at Spa.

As well as Robert Kubica testing next week we have a new face as well. Definite one to look out for is Lando Norris and great to hear he gets a run out in an f1 car this week (even if it is a McLaren!). Doing well in his first season of Euro F3 after some excellent results in the lower formulas.

Paul Di Resta replaced ill Massa for the rest of the weekend.

Ferrari's look beautiful - good news for those who want a close fight for the remainder of the season especially after Mercedes dominance at the last race. Quietly confident for a good McLaren performance as well.
