Alonso passes Real medicalMidfielder on brink of finalising move from Liverpool
A fee was agreed between the two clubs on Tuesday evening, with Real expected to pay in the region of £30million for the former Real Sociedad man.
Real have spent much of the summer trying to conclude a deal for Alonso, who outlined his desire to leave Anfield last month by handing in a transfer request.
He is now close to finalising his move to the Santiago Bernabeu after passing a medical and holding talks over personal terms.Alonso is expected to become Real's final signing of a hectic summer which has seen the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema arrive in the Spanish capital.
The club will now focus on selling players on the fringes of Manuel Pellegrini's team, with Klaas Jan Huntelaar expected to lead the departures.
