Rafa needs to wake up and give Aquilani from now until the end of the season, our central midfield pairing is stifling us with no craft or invention and no one able to orchestrate the midfield and dictate the tempo of the game.

When Aquilani came on vs Wigan we started to play 1 touch 2 touch football rather than the boring Carra 10 touch football before watching the ball being intercepted by the opposition.

Cant see why hes not getting a run during games against uefa cup teams and lower end teams wigan portsmouth etc I can only guess hes a flop because hes not playing. Either the pitch is too lumpy, the opponents are too physical or we need 2 def mids. That makes him available for about 10% of matches.. not sure why we bought him in that case and i can see the lad getting demoralised by the week.

Rafa is to blame for Xabi leaving though. He tried to sell him the season before he went and the following season he left.

      It would appear... I'm English...

I would like to see Rafa start both Aquilani and Babel every game until the end of the season now, for the simple reason that at the speed Aquilani will move the ball Babel will have more chances of only having one man to beat and not the full back, winger and centre half our wingers usually have to beat because the ball got there too late.

Agree with you on that. Only I'd play Aquilani behind the striker where he is more affective and push Gerrard back into midfield to help create the play.

yeah I just want to see Aquilani get a run in the team. If you're an attacking centre midfielder your life is made a hell of a lot easier by a pacey winger giving you options than someone who stays still. How many times do you see lennon or ashley young in behind teams because of a good ball by the midfielder. I hope babel gets a start 2nite n gets to show us some pace and strength.

I wonder how effective Babel would be on the other wing. I know hes always played left sided cutting back in but I reckon he could be very similar and just as effective as Valencia for the skum on the right.

Yeah he's right footed so I think he would be more accustom to that side of the pitch.

Would also be good to see him given ago upfront or behind Torres. Their link up play was the best I've seen all season from two Liverpool players in the game against Lille.

I thought that as well actually, and maybe if Babel had played a few more games this season he would of slotted home in that game.

Maybe a 4-3-3 then? Babel Kuyt and Torres as a front three in front 3 midfelders.

he played good tonight, touch was a bit heavy early on but kept getting better and better. Took the goal well, got into great positions, and was hitting some great passes. Hopefully he will continue to get full games from now on.

well done alberto, top class game, he should definately start V scum, we need to attack them next week, so no point starting lucas...only bring lucas on if we are leading and need to go a bit more defensive.

Was that the best performance from a midfielder this season?

      The answer - yes.
