It was an outrageous decision from the ref especially since the ref was so close.

Players have done it and will keep doing it Gerrard does it.

Because Gerrard has been shown to have dived in the past doesn't change my opinion on the matter, in the clear cases he has done it I feel he should have been punished too. I'm not a hypocrite and I don't believe in one rule for us, another for the opposition.

Exactly Ayrton and thats why I posted it, it served its purpose to remind Liverpool fans not to be hypocritical as not all fans are like both You and I, I do not believe for a second you are a hypocrite as a lot of thought and logic goes into your posts and they are of an excellent standard with out prejudice or hypocrisy that can only be seen as beneficial to the forum.

All the video highlights to members who do not share our out look is that you can't condemn players for doing it when our own do it, I'd much rather we as Liverpool fans be known as fair thinking supporters than hypocrites wouldn't you ?

Its a sorry tought but diving is very much part of the modern game. There isn't a team in any top league that can honestly say that one of their players didn't dive last season. But until punishments are introduced for players for diving it will continue. I'm not talking about a booking or even a straight red because most dives aren't picked up by the ref or the ref can pre judge a player with a history of diving. They need to be punished with match bans and fines, the ony way they will learn. John Giles was analysing the match last night on RTE and said that players are actually practicing diving!

Eduardo will most likely get away with this, lets be honest if he were to get punished there would be mayhem about the other players that get away with it. Until serious punishments are introduced, teams will suffer and so will our game. The sad truth.

If they would introduce video technology for penalty claims it would help put a stop to it. When a player is judged to be diving he could be given a red card.

I don't know what was more ridiculous the dive or the fact it was awarded a pen.

TBH, when i first saw it happen i thought that's definitely a penalty. Then, when i saw the replay it's easy to see that it was a blatant dive. I can understand why the referee awarded it though...

A topic on the bbc website has just concluded on whether or not Eduardo should be getting a  two match ban from Europe.

An amazing quick fire 2007 comments came in very quickly, signalling that this really is one of the passionate topics with the fans.  Most of them were in favour of banning him.

This was outrageous! blatant cheating ! Michel Platini and his cronies are reportedly thinking about having 5 refs ! two on each goal line and the central one ,I reckon they should introduce the same as rugby and have a video ref and also introduce the 'sin bin' where a player goes off for 15 minutes for obvious pre-meditated fouling .

He not only dives but constantly, persistently, faithfully and boldly backed against defenders and wins the balls time and again due to his bulky size. When Nando does that the referees were as quick as ever to blow the whistle, when fat Drog does it, he gets away scot free. Wonder whether the refs are on Mr. Abram's payroll?

Question    Did Rooney dive for the penalty against Arsenal?????

To my mind the difference between him and Eduardo was that the keeper made clear contact with Rooney.  However, when you watch the incident Rooney was always second favourite to reach the ball and an amazing burst of speed ensured he got a foot in just before Almunia. The problem for me is that all he could do was kick the ball into the crowd for a goal kick, so there was never ever a genuine goal scoring opportunity.

Should such incidents honestly be a penalty????

What actually happens is occasionally a trap door spider opens his door on hearing the vibration of the earth and sticks a fang out to trip the player up. This would be my defence if I was caught for diving!

Do you think anyone might swallow it?
