Who's fit? Rep told me Kate was, but I think things have changed for him since. . . Oh wait. Not the same fit
:lmao: Ooohh you're enjoying yourself Racer, aren't you?  :D

MsG good for you, you should put that in the reasons to be cheerful thread. Not an easy thing to do at all, been trying to lose a few pounds myself for the past couple of months, but not really going by my plan. Damn sweets.

Not really. I feel it in my calf, but it's not affecting me in my day-to-day activities.

Had a bad fall Tuesday morning and injured my back. The whole of my back went in spasm and I couldn't even move.I started rattling CoCodamol down as if there was no tomorrow, but it didn't even touch the pain. Phoned the emergency doctor Wednesday morning, and he diagnosed my injuries without even seeing me. (must have got a good idea what was wrong with me from the groans and swear words.)Faxed a prescription with a few Diazapam on it and I was able to move and walk without much pain within an hour. Magic stuff.

Still got an acheing back but nothing compared to what it was.

Just did my calf in while running. Not happy at all. >:(

That sucks :( What trabs do you run in?

You may want to invest in a pair of these bad boys...

Best running shoes ever, it is like running barefoot - as nature intended.  It totally changes your running style into a natural, forefoot/midfoot strike as opposed to an unhealthy heelstrike.

Out of interest - what's so "unhealthy" about heel striking when running?

I know your supposed to run in a more natural style, which is putting the weight onto the forefoot of the foot.

Pressure and repeated shocks to the joints mostly.  They design fancy trabs that take away the pain, but the shock still reverberates up your leg to the knee and hips.  Will post some more info later :)

As I have said in the Fitness Thread, last week at football, I sprained my ankle and I am out for a few weeks. Probably 4-6 weeks. :'(

Bugger.  Too many injuries in this thread....... oh hang on that's what it's for ;D

I'm not one to go peddling quack medicine but you could try some pure emu oil (ebay!).  Apparently Paula Radcliffe used it on an injured knee and it helped her recover a lot quicker.  It has a unique composition where parts of the oil sink right through the skin to bones, tendons and joints.

There is a lot of info out there on barefoot running and the Pose method, they are very similar as barefoot running forces you to change your running style.

      http://birthdayshoes.com/introduction-to-the-pose-method-of-running-posetech-an-introduction

There are plenty of sites advocating barefoot running, but this is a good article from a neutral source, http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-240-319--6728-0,00.html

It gives the basic reasons behind barefoot running (or forefoot-midfoot striking).  Obviously there are drawbacks in the possibility of glass, stones and dog-poo on our roads.  I've ran barefoot a few times without much problem though, keep an eye out for the dog-poo and you'll normally be fine over small stones and even glass because you are running much lighter than you would in shoes.  However, it is not worth the risk of a small cut and infection, so I run in my 'barefoot shoes' which are basically a 3mm piece of rubber that protects against stones, glass and poo but still gives the feel, control and natural running style of barefoot.

One piece of advice is to build up distances slowly when running properly for the first time.  Anything more than 2k or so at first will hurt, because your body is not used to using the muscles naturally.  It will take a little time to train the muscles properly, but you will feel the benefit.

Running properly, you will see fewer injuries - particularly to the knees and hips.

I have a very nasty red mark on my arm, I was sitting outside the pub last weekend in Liverpool when I was either stung or bitten by something, I didn't think anything of it at the time but my arm has got worse as the weeks gone on, there's a patch on my arm that is red hot, and  it actually feels swollen, it's also really itchy, I'm going to have to go to the Doctors tomorrow as I have a feeling it might even be infected :f_steam:

MsG you should deffo get it checked.

I ripped my bottom lip this morning with the parrots' cage. Allow me to elaborate. The little bugger started singing/screaming at freakin 7.30am, and woke me up. So got out of bed pissed as hell, and as I was trying to get him out in the balcony (as fast as I can and still sleepy), I bumped the cage on the door frame and it came right back at my lip. Blood all over my mouth, now it's even a bit swollen and looks like somebody gave me a really nasty bite or I got punched in the face
