"Get well soon" sounds a bit ridiculous after watching that.

I hope he recovers and manages to continue playing football again at some point in the future, however long it takes.

Absolutely horrendous carry on he's a F***ing animal and wants F***ing off completely. He went into that with the sole intent of taking the man out there was no contact with the ball whatsoever, just hope the lads not too damaged.

Repulsive tackle, and my lord what an absolutely shocking leg break. Put that in some action flick, and one would say it was far too unbelievable...
The punishment should have been a ban for the rest of the season for the offending player, not some extended holiday amounting to no more than eleven games!...that was horrible. I hope Wasilewski gets to play again.

Sometimes players break their legs after suffering heavy tackles, but this reminds of the Roy Keane incident.

You can excuse bad tackles, bad slide tackles.

But these kind of Roy Keane-esque stamps have no place in football. That's probably closer to assault.

horrific stuff have watched it many times not because I am a sadist but because people on another forum were saying it looks worse for Witsel than what it actually is. I think he was over the ball and stamped down not in the same league as Keane on Haaland but still a stamp. Worst I have seen.

What is a mystery is the fact that he in some way disputed the decision??? Instead of using his foot if he had produced a lump hammer and whacked the lad on the leg it would have been the same because the intended movement of the foot could not have had any effect on the ball. Given the fact that a professional footballer can exert massive pressure P.S.I. with his foot the lad is well entitled to claim damages off the thug who assaulted him.

Christ, that's a bad injury. I've seen many a leg break, especially one from WWF/E days with Sid Vicious (If your curious, youtube it, not going to post it on here) but that looks awful.

Hopefully, he can be like Eduardo and make a comeback from it, no-one deserves to have an career ended like that.

Ive just seen that on youtube as it had been removed from here and Jesus, i hope im wrong , but that looks like his career could be over. It seems to snap halfway down his shin, its going to take some serious operations to give him any chance. That thug should be banned for life, he did him ..simple as that , he saw him coming and put his full weight into jumping on his shin.

When I saw the incident for the first time it was shortly after the match which made me being sick of watching any football for three consecutive days and now, fortnight after, the horror scene of poor Wasyl's leg hanging around is still frozen in my memory. After that first gruesome impression I needed some time to prepare myself psychically to watch it again in order to try to estimate whether the Witsel's tackle was intentional or accidental. To be honest, the camerawork itself is not enough for bringing a final decision but Witsel's reaction immediately after he saw what he had done was incredibly shocking: he didn't show any regret and instead protested over red card at referee even with ironical smile on his face. IMO a normal person would not even think about the red card in such situation! A normal person would demand from his manager to allow him to leave the pitch and go to hospital to follow further course over the injured lad even if he was not shown the red card by referee.

And the attitude of other Standard players was also shameful, with exception of my compatriot Milan Jovanovic who I am proud with as he stated he would give up the title if it could help Wasyl in any way and also was the only Standard player that hit out Witsel in the dressing room at the half-time.
