No problem Niks.
Wow I was knackered after yesterday's win, went on to watch the Spurs one and ended up in bed at 3am! Well, what a fantastic victory I must say, although my stream was dying and my internet chose to disobey me for the day and I couldn't really watch the game properly!
Ah well, it was a lovely performance, we started to pick up the pace after 20 minutes or so, started to dominate the game and then play the ball around which was certainly quite pleasing on the eye. The first goal was a well worked move from Yossi, he turned one defender inside out and then finished with such composure and took the pressure off our team.
Then the second came, it was another Yossi shot that got spilled by Jensen which enabled Kuyt to have a tap in. Later on we ripped their defence apart in the second half with another well-worked move, and Yossi slotted it into an empty net. The fourth goal displayed our domination in the final third of the area. When Riera got the ball, there were nice interchangable passes between Gerrard, Voronin and that backheel from Yossi, before he was clear in on goal and scored his hat trick.
Made up for Yossi, on his day he showed everyone that he's capable of anything. Last season on games like these we couldn't win, but with Yossi we have that extra spark in creativity and someone to keep the ball for us in the final third of the game. He's like our Messi mind you, when Masch and Aquilani return I expect Yossi to start week in week out on the left flank already.
Special mentions for Lucas, Kuyt and Gerrard, never stopped working their arses off, Kuyt was productive as well asn hardworking, got the goal and was pleased for him. Gerrard, another inspirational performance, should have grabbed a goal or two if not for the fine save from Jensen and the post. Lucas, put in another composed and assured display, he passed the ball with more maturity and confidence, and all in all it was a solid performance from the young lad again.
Top win, those losses don't matter as long as we can pick up points against dogey sides like Bolton, Stoke, Burnley.
And lastly, its great to see Michael Shields back at Anfield!! He has a lot to catch up though, it was difficult for him to be following football in those four years
Made up for him though. And that win was for Shields.
What a performance after the international break, I was afraid with different players coming back at different times it would affect us, just glad to get the 3 points!
