A local football historian is appealing for help in his attempts to track down a photograph of former Liverpool player Len Carney.
Reds fan Gary Shaw is currently researching Liverpool FC during the Second World War and is desperate to unearth a picture of Carney.
A former Liverpool University and Collegiate Old Boys player, Carney was an amateur who made 27 appearances for the club during this time.
After playing during the hostilities he made his Football League debut, aged 31, on the opening day of the 1946/47 title-winning season and marked the occasion by scoring the only goal of a 1-0 away win at Sheffield United.
After just seven peace-time outings in the first team he eventually left Anfield in 1948 and not a lot is known about him since then.
If anyone does have a photograph of Len Carney, or can shed any light on what happened to him after leaving Liverpool then please email mark.platt@liverpoolfc.tv and he will pass any information on to Gary.
If anyone has any information or a photograph of a player, dig deep and help him.
Gary Shaw is also known as Reslivo. You have to ask him if they're the same person, though
