      Stadium Talk
      Sep 16, 2009 07:55:09 am
      http://www.eufootball.biz/Stadia-Facilities/7539-liverpool_working_towards_new_stadium.html

"English Liverpool managing director, Christian Purslow, expects the latest deal between the club and Standard Chartered to pave the way to a new stadium.

According to Purslow, the agreement represents a “huge step forward” for Liverpool, marking the largest sponsorship deal in the history of the club.

Standard Chartered agreed to a four-year, GBP 80 million partnership with the club, set to begin next summer and continue through to the end of the 2013-14 season.

Speaking to The Guardian, Purslow indicated that the financial stability provided by Standard Chartered could be just what the club needs to get back on track.

Plans for a 60,000 seat venue in Stanley Park were halted by Liverpool City Council last year due to “global market conditions,” leading Purslow to begin establishing positive conditions for the process to flourish.

He went on to note that the partnership is reflective of “two highly successful organisations”, providing Liverpool with “the ideal partner” to move forward in their global ambitions.

Purslow advised that Standard Chartered operates in a variety of markets featuring a “vast and growing fanbase” of Liverpool fans, including Asia, the Middle East, and Africa."

      Blah Blah Blah.

Of course he is going to say that isnt he?

Hes just been promised 80 mill.

Why is there a huge slice in the middle of the kop? Looks like a piece of un-cut cheese.

      Access for disabled supporters.

It's a better view for them halfway up the Kop.

Surely we can give them a decent view without creating a huge gap in the seats?

Cant they bugger off to some other stand? (no offence to disabled supporters)

       :o How dare you  :f_steam:

How the hell would you like it if you were disabled and you wanted to watch the Reds play, and other fans were thinking you were nothing short of a bloody nuisance.

They have as much right as any of us to be able to watch the game with the best view possible.

Have a good think about what you've just said there.  :angry-smiley-034:

There are plenty of decent views they can have without making the kop a 2 tier stand! Dont muslims have a right to watch the game whilst facing east or whatever it is they do? Lets make all the stands face the same way. If you dont agree, how bloody dare you!

Oi mate, that's a shocking thing to say about our disabled fans. Lets keep it respectable here and think about what you're saying before you hit that enter key.

      In what sense?

Im not saying "disabled supporters cant go to games"...Im merely saying we didnt have to have a huge slice in the middle of the Kop before so why should we now?

If you don't want to offend people, don't say that at all.

Anyway lets keep things civil here.

Are these pictures flying around the confirmed plans for the stadium, can anyone get up the actual outer design too?

Also Ive noticed the official website says the following:

      Quote
Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that the building of their new stadium will be subject to delay.

A spokesman for the club said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such work on the project will be delayed in the short term. We will use this period productively and progress the proposals for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats."

      73,000?

Great pictures hope to still be alive when this gets completed :lmao:

I think it would be better if we knew that we could still build on the stadium once completed, the way the mancs add a few thousand seats here and there :P

the disabled issue as only really reared its head in the modern era of the game the stadiums that have been built recently have accomodated the disabled  fans adequately up to now, Why can't we lead the way and put the disabled fans of the greatest club in the world in the best place in the world and thats the new kop !
