      No, they didn't. The modern Santa Claus had been dressed in red before that already. But as far as his origins go, Saint Nicholas has been depicted in red and white for centuries. The original Father Christmas wore green, untill he got merged with Sinterklaas and Saint Nicholas to become the more modern version of Father Christmas: Santa Claus. Ofcourse commerce did have a big influence on the increased popularity.

      That's probably mostly cause of that movie though? And who cares really, if it's the end of the world then there will be nobody left to care about what happened anyway :P If we're going out, then I rather go out big like that  ;D
