3 Good sides faced 3 games lost

This was the most worrying part of tonights loss for me...yet again as soon as we get put up against any sort of quality we get obliterated and deservedly beaten....we've had a relatively easy start to this season fixture wise with Stoke/Hull/Burnley all at home and away games at lowly west ham and Bolton....if you look at the league table we haven't beaten anyone from the top half,,,2 of our wins came against 2 of the current bottom 3 teams in the league and if were honest we've looked laboured against anyone even half decent this season...

Tonight we were well beaten...Fiorentina are a good side but we shouldn't be getting totally walloped like we did tonight...Tottenham did the same to us on the opening day when the score could have been anything for them that afternoon and Villa won comfortably at anfield....my worry is especially ahead of sundays match that any good side we've come up against this season we've been well and truly second best and lets be fair Spurs Villa and Fiorentina are hardly Barcelona Real Madrid and United fixtures are they...

The only teams we've beaten this year are:

Stoke city - At home (bottom half of the league)
Burnley - At home (bottom half of the league)
Hull city - At home (second bottom)
Bolton - needed a late goal to struggle past them (5th from bottom)
West ham - needed a late goal to struggle past them (3rd bottom)

And debrecen in Europe who lost 4-0 at home to Lyon tonight....and are arguably the worst of the 4th seeds in the competition...

We've only won gimme matches this season and the worry is going into sunday Chelsea could teach us a bit of a lesson...Fiorentina did tonight...spurs did on the opening day and Villa won easy at anfield....we seem to have gone totally 360 from last year where it was the lesser teams we were dropping points to...this season we dont look capable of beating anyone remotley half decent...

Well don't think it's entirely fair to say Stoke are a pushover - they're well organised.  We didn't try tonight.  I honestly think it was bad choice of mid-field.  Also Rafa should have changed around before the 2nd half.
I for one won't be reading any pundit vews over the next few days!!!!

Do you not class the wins against Hull and Stoke as better than last season? The only prem game that we done better last season was the Aston Villa game. We have more wins this season than last season.

If this thread is going to take a direction onto tonights game then it will be locked.

But, on the notion of us playing 'weaker' sides, you can only beat what's put in front of you. And we're only three points behind the mancs in the league and still in the European Cup - which we're better in than the mancs.

And the season is far to early in it's infancy to be making knee jerk reactions. You're adding fuel to a water drenched fire.

Do you honestly think we were ripped apart tonight? I feel we give them more of a threat 2nd half than they give us in the 1st apart from the 2 defensive mistakes.

Interesting point you raise. Countered by the fact that they were he teams we f**ked up against last year and everyone said until we learned to beat them we'd win nothing well weve given them all hidings. Now for your theory of being hammered by 3 good teams. We had a sh*te 45 minutes tonight no doubt but we could have pulled it back 2nd half. Spurs and Villa certainly didn't give us a hiding in terms of the games. If you think a 2 1 defeat at Spurs is a hiding? And Villa was a freak result happens every team every season

Im having this discussion on RAWK as well tonight and many think the same....lucas and aurelio in the centre of midfield tonight were gash quite frankly and fioerentina murdered us...the same happened at Tottenham when Huddlestone and Palacios ate our midfield for breakfast....Villa put 3 past us at anfield! surely people can see theres a problem here? why is Aurelio chosen ahead of Gerrard in central midfield???

Beating the likes of Stoke and Hull at home should be expected...christ hull are piss poor right now even everton put 4 past them last week and stoke should never get a result away to us....

Like i said we seem to have gone full circle from this time last year where we couldnt see of the small teams but beat the better sides...well now we look to have sorted our problems against the small teams out yet seem incapable of beating the better sides....

Dosnt look good that we havnt even beaten a top 10 side in England this season yet....

We've had some great results since our defeats - tonight wasn't one of them. First half was the cause an I think we got complacent simple as that!

We beat Burnley at home the mancs lost to them away....we lost to spurs away the mancs beat spurs away? whats the point of this? im talking about our failure to beat the better sides weve faced this season.....are we not allowed to talk about anything other than how wonderful we are on here then??
