Considering I actually know the fella who wrote the Fields Of Anfield Road lyrics, it still sounds better than Fields of Athenry!!!

Actually Court LFC 'started it' and if you look at my first post  you will see why I made the point in light of his hypocrisy. Sorry lad, but even the lyrics of Anfield Road are just a spin on Athenry. At the end of the day, The fields of athenry is one of the best of many great Irish songs, whose lyrics are based on our proud heritage. Both the lyrics and music were originally written by Pete st. John. So you obviously will still prefer Anfield road, but that doesn't mean it's not just a rip off of Athenry

FC St. Pauli from the Bundesliga 2 sing YNWA. Can be found pretty easily on youtube. They have a pretty good bond with Celtic. So they might have got it from there.
