Not long till this board gets closed.

What another sh*t transfer window it has been.  I think as long as we've got these two in charge stealing money out of the squad then this board will probably become a sub-board in the Kop.

Think it should be the "Players we want to sign but cant because instead of investors running the club we have vampires sucking the very lifeblood out of it" Its a bit long winded but its a work in progress

The squad needs a big clear out to much average players at the club, Ballague seems to think this is going to happen in the Summer if Rafa is still here.

The quicker the window is closed the better, every window we set our hopes up high only to be smashed to the floor time and time again. You can sense the anticipation in posters when they write about a player we are supposed to be interested in and then you can sense the despair in the same posters when they realise it has only been a dream or in some cases a nightmare.

I know the feeling all too well Billy!

Oh well. What do yo do? You have to keep hoping for arrivals otherwise it does get you down.

A massive and proud club like ours should be securing the services of top new talent, but unfortunately there is despair involved when we are being obviously hamstrung by our sadistic owners. Not if, but when they leave, you can just imagine this forum will go into joyous meltdown.

Cant see Spurs trying to help us in the current situation, why didn't we go for Gudjohnson?

Ya he would have been a good signing, how many strikers have Spurs, we have 1 and he is out for at least another month, do the owners not want Champions League.

Rafa Benitez will spend the final days of the transfer window looking for a solution to solve his right-back problem.

       Related Links
With Glen Johnson making slow progress after damaging his medial ligaments in the win at Aston Villa on December 29, the Liverpool boss is anxious to bring in cover.

Jamie Carragher has been deployed in that position since Johnson was ruled out and has excelled in a number of games, notably the 2-0 win over Spurs last week.

Benitez, though, would prefer to return his vice-captain his favoured - and best - position in the middle and is hoping to find someone who can come and do a job until Johnson is in a position to return.

That, however, is easier said than done. with Liverpool hardly awash with cash and suitable candidates thin on the ground, the chances are Benitez's search will ultimately prove to be a fruitless one. But he is refusing to throw in the towel just yet and has vowed to keep "working hard" in the hope that a gem will be unearthed.

"We have to be careful with what we do," Benitez said.

"There are not too many good players around who are available and we will think. We still have some time but we will not rush if we cannot find the right player. We will try to find the right player for this position."

If the search comes to nothing, Benitez does at least have options to fill in for Johnson.

Martin Kelly - who has been absent since making a fine debut against Lyon in October - has returned to training after a long lay-off, while the calf injury that precluded Philipp Degen's involvement at Wolves is not too serious. Aside from that, Stephen Darby has seen his involvement in the first-team squad increase, to go alongside Carragher's great form.

"We are really pleased to see Carra playing as well as he does when he is in the centre of defence at full-back," said Benitez.

"We have needed him and he is doing well. (Martin) Kelly has been injured but has improved."

With the chances remote of a new face arriving at Anfield before deadline day, all eyes will be on whether Benitez chooses to trim his squad back. Ryan Babel has been the most likely candidate to leave but any suggestions he will depart to Sunderland are wide of the mark.

This story has been reproduced from today's media. It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Football Club.

Johnson will be 1st choice. So why spend on a right back when Degen Darby Kelly and Carra can cover there. Dare I say it Kuyty might do a shift there. A free transfer or a loan is fine but why spend on a player who wont play when Johno is fit?

Agree mate. Degen, Darby and Kelly have all impressed at some stage so they deserve a crack before anyone else.

Any word on Kelly coming back. Would much rather himself and Darby got games then waste money on another player who wont get a game when Johnson gets fit and then we have another disgruntled player sitting on the bench

      Dissapointing window.

Theres a couple of players there that we could have got without any real fuss.

McCarthy goin to west ham, did that go through? Anybody no how much? Surely wont be that much though? Was only 2 seasons or so ago he bagged 20 goals in a season. Hes always had the potential and hes similar to Darren Bent, just has the nack of being in the right place at the right time to score goals.

Gudjohnsen. If spurs signed him, then he definately would have come to us surely if we were interested. All no how good he is and he easily has 2 or 3 seasons left in him. Hes full of class this lad and would fit into our team easily.

Vieira. Wages would be a concern i admit but with no transfer fee i would have gambled on him. Time will tell if he can still cut it in the prem but i think he has another season or 2 in him as well. Could be a great signing that for city.

Pavlyuchenko on loan, personally i dont rate him but could have easily been an option. Same with Benjani at city. Amount of strikers city have surely they would loan him out? Bags and bags of potential at pompy but just hasn't had a crack at it properly at city yet. Could have been an option.

Now this is the crazy one, this is the mad one, but why not, ROBINHO? If city think hes sh*te and cant cut it at this level and loan him to santos, is their a small possibility they may have loaned him to us? Again, wages being an issue, but no transfer fee just F***ing go for it!

Them clubs might not do business with their rivals who knows but its just so frustrating to see absolutely nothing done and being linked with right backs. Theres no way on earth Rafa will be sitting in his office thinking 'hmm, i dont need to sign any players this window' Our owners are F***ing sh*te and because of their lack of investment, interest, involvement in the club we really might end up screwed.
