      Carlo Cudicini Rushed to hospital
      Nov 12, 2009 02:49:31 pm
Spurs goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has been taken to hospital with fractured wrists and a suspected broken pelvis after a road smash.

The Italian stopper suffered what police have described as 'possibly life-changing' injuries after crashing his BMW motorbike in Walthamstow in east London.

Keeper's ball: Tottenham's Carlo Cudicini claims possession against Hull City

Cudicini was rushed to hospital after a collision with a Fiesta car on Forest Road at around 10.30am this morning. Ambulance crews arrived on the scene and an air-ambulance also flew in, although the latter was not used.

'A 36-year-old male suffered injuries described as possibly life-changing and was taken to an East London hospital for further assessment and treatment,' said a police spokesperson.
Rare appearance: Cudicini in action for Spurs at West Ham in August
An eyewitness immediately recognised Cudicini as he lay on the roadside as crowds gathered.
The female driver and a child passenger walked away from the car - which was described as a 'write off' - and did not need hospital treatment.
A Tottenham statement read: 'Carlo Cudicini has fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after being involved in a road accident this morning.
'The 36-year-old Italian goalkeeper has been admitted to hospital and undergone scans under the supervision of club medical staff.
'The club will update supporters on Carlo as soon as there is any further information.'
Cudicini, 36, signed from London rivals Chelsea in January this year but has made just 11 appearances with the White Hart Lane club.

He has failed to dislodge first-choice Heurelho Gomes from the side and was linked with a summer swap deal involving Portsmouth veteran David James.
He made his name at Chelsea joining the club from Castel Di Sangro in 1999, initially on loan before signing a permanent deal. He was first choice for four seasons at Stamford Bridge until the arrival of Petr Cech.

      Bad news that.

But why do footballers who earn shed loads of money drive on motorbikes? ??? Unbelievable.

Still, wishing you a speedy recovery Carlo.

Forest Road  :o  That's round the corner from my house too.

Here's to a full recovery for him.  Sounds nasty, but it could have been a lot worse I suppose.  I hate seeing any accidents, but motorbike accidents always make me shudder.  The woman and her kid must have been shaken up too.

What the f*** was he doing in Walthamstow???? (Round the corner from me)..

It's next door to Tottenham maybe???

Very sad to see this, unfortunately at his age it could mean the end of his career. He's lucky to be alive though, serious motorbike accidents almost always spell tragedy.

      Get well soon Carlo.

Had surgery on both his wrists and pelvis today didn't he?

To be honest given the fact he's 36 I can't see him playing again. Shame though because he's a good keeper, never really been given the right chance in his career IMO.

Always had quality, never been able to show it though.

Doubt he will play again, at his age, and considering how long he will be out for with the injuries to.

Good luck with the recovery mate.
