That video of the great Shanks "speaking to the people" is as touching as "I have a dream".

Slightly off topic but I have noticed the posters in this thread are the same ones that post regularly are not knee jerkers and generally support Rafa.

So where are then the rest of you?

Probably looking up who Bill Shankly is ::)

Brilliant videos aren't they, he really had that way of hitting home with the passion in which he spoke.

Ian is a proper adopted scouser so it's no surprise he looks the part next to Shankly in my opinion. I'll never forget how chuffed he was when I took him to the Bill Shankly Playing Fields in West Derby. That was a pleasure and an honour for me that day mate. And it spoke volumes about your love for the reds.

Just a reminder. If anyone hasn't had a listen to the two hour Shankly Special that was on the radio here yesterday, make sure you do before it's taken down. It will make you proud.

There was a question at the end of it that got me wondering. If you could describe Shankly with one word, what would it be?

Thanks RK...still smile to this day thinking about you driving me somewhere for a surprise visit. I had no idea where you were taking me. Pity you didn't have a ball in the back of the van, we could have gone out and graced the hallowed turf.

      One word to describe Shanks....Pioneer.

"The socialism I believe in is not really politics. It is a way of lving. It is humanity. I believe the way to live and be truly successful is by collective effort, with everyone working for each other, everyone helping each other and everyone having a share of the rewards at the end of the day....It's the way I see football and the way I see life."
      Mr William Shankly.

A truly greatman, a truly great manager and a truly great gentleman.
