Saw it this morning, gutted for him. Was a really good player aswell, don't know how he must be feeling right now, but he probably prepared himself for the worst.
This is exactly why clubs shouldn't have to release players for international friendlies. A players been called up for a pointless game and now his career is over. Ridiculous.
I agree. But where do you draw the line? Even if it was a friendly, If you start doing stuff like that then eventually it will bleed into the World Cup and then you lose all the greatness of the World Cup.
Their was a time when the Olympics was an "Amature" only event. Maybe they should do the same for the World Cup. Especially with the money involved in the EPL.La Liga,Serie A etc.. The World Cup is a big money maker but not compared to the career of a star player on the professional club level.
