      My footballing moral dilemma
      May 04, 2007 06:17:53 pm
      Okay, advice required.

I have won a pair of tickets to the European Cup Third Place Play Off (sorry FA Cup Final)  ;)

Obviously I support neither Chelsea or the Mancs but I quite fancy going - 1st final at the new Wembley etc etc and it will be a good day out.

      So what should I do?

      - take a mate and go
      - take the resident Manc from work (and/or charge him) - he has taken a bit of stick this week and he isn't a bad lad
      - eBay them (but it is only money)

      or something else.

Ideally I would prefer to swop them for a pair of tickets to the Champions League Final that some idiot Chelsea or United fan had bought prematurely...

      Ideas?

oooo toughie! Defo try and find anyone who wants to swap them for CL final tickets tonight, but if you cant then go and you might aswell take your resident manc as he supports the mancs and then you can always call a favour off him anytime you need one!

Going to have a little snoop around now to see if anyone has Champions League tickets and wants to trade.  Where do I start.... ;)

Yeah, good luck snooping about. Swopping them for Champions League tickets is the way you have to go.

In the unfortunate case (hopefully not) that you can't find anyone to trade with, I'd have a think what your Man U workmate would do if he was in your situation and we were in the FA Cup Final. If he would, then have it that he pays for the travel. That's fair enough isn't it?
Otherwise, I'd take my mate with me.

      Take me & go!!!!!!!!

Only joking, personally I'd try & get a swap first, if not flog them on e-bay. If you see your m@nc mate making a serious attempt to get to the final, then sell them to him, but not before.

TBH he hadn't made any attempt to get a ticket - he doesn't go the games.

I might have a look on some United forums over the weekend. I reckon one of them is more likely to do a trade than a Chelsea fan.

ya know, it would be awful nice to let a lad who's never seen a match before go, but you'd have to pay airfare...;D

i would go dressed from head to toe in LFC, and brag about how they will win on the 23rd. i would do it....

      Considered this.

Either a t-shirt with a Liverbird on and

      'NOT QUITE ATHENS IS IT?'

      or

'NO EXTRA TIME. I'VE GOT TO GET TO ATHENS'

      or

      [front] I WAS THERE

[back] FOR THE EUROPEAN CUP 3RD PLACE PLAYOFF

      ;)

Not got anywhere yet.  Don't actually have the ticket in my hand till about Tue so won't know it's value.

Maybe I should ask Nicola if any of her Cheerleading buddies are fit and single interested in football.

Please sir! Take me sir! Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me (you think I'm joking!)
I'll pay for the privalege and put you up in a hotel too.
(You can get your own fare to London - £12 return on National Expresss!) I do it many times a year and it's 5x cheaper than the car plus you get 5hrs rest each way!
Name your price JD, it would be a privalege to meet you mate.
(I live in London so not a problem.)

There's no way I would tout my ticket to one of my fellow forumites - that would just be plain wrong - although if I ever did have any serious spares then I would obviously look here first.

I have a mate who is particularly down in the dumps - girlfriend left him after he spent around £20,000 on her in a couple of years (when he probably doesn't earn that much a year) etc. (Yes I know it's his own stupid fault). I asked him - he lives near London at the mo so that is the current plan (although he knows the deal if I can get an Athens ticket out of it).

      Nice blagging though.

If I had taken you then think of all the rumours that would have started ;)

Oi oi!! I'm interested in football!!
Of the ones I'm good friends with, none of them are interested. There's Terry, but he's a Leeds fan, and quite depressed at the moment.. tehe.

RED1028 that Cardiff pic is gorgeous!! :P

Wouldn't dream of doing any animating!  To cut a long story short - I was going to take a fellow red. The people who were awarding the tickets then realised they were in the Man United end.  End result - United wouldn't release the tickets because the company had said we were Liverpool fans.  I'm not too arsed but I am kicking up a stink so I will let you know how I get on.
