Believe this rumour stemmed from Collymore on Talksport. He listed Beattie amongst the type of hard-working striker we could do with buying in January and the papers picked up on it. All in all, he'd still be better than Voro although not sure he has the right attitude.

Let's hope he doesn't sign then, eh? Given some of the statements on here he'll definitely walk alone.  ;D

I'll happily wager a score quid with anyone on here that Beattie scores more premiership goals, this season, than any of our 'back-up' strikers btw.  ;)

Back up striker, of better quality than Voronin, if its all we can afford and he's an upgrade on Voronin, why teh hell not in my opinion, not like he's ever going to be a regular first team starter. He'd be essentially to do what Voronin can not and thats score goals from the bench.

      We have N'Gog and Pacheco

Wuldnt mind if he came to the club, in reality any back up striker we get will never be too good as the system Rafa plays only needs of one striker meaning the back up will be on the bench a lot and not many players would be happy with that.

Yep and they both have vast amounts of premier league experience between them don't they ?, I  prefer Pacheco myself, but I can see the logic in signing some one Beattie's ilk, it may have escaped your attention but not mine,  we've struggled without Torres this season, so a striker who can mix it up and get goals may not be a bad option just incase the unthinkable happens.

Hell no. He is only good enough for teams like Stoke. He played for Everton (puts me off even more) and couldn't cut it.

Not good enough, end of. Much rather see Pacheco, N'Gog and Nemeth develop and play.

      Oh my days...!!!

But he is a upgrade from Voronin. He is not bad at that price too but it is a no from me. He doesnt have that quality that we require.

Im in your camp on this one.

I dont rate Ngog as highly as everyone else does on here and Nemeth wont be here until next season so for £500,000 its worth a shot.

I dont care if he is "not Liverpool quality" most of what we have are "not" quality but we have to make do.

When will people wake up and realise we have to deal in the bargain basement until we get an injection of funds.

If you take into consideration how many headed goals we get too, someone of Beattie's ilk who's not too bad in the air and makes it hard for defenders in the box may not be bad a shout to throw on for the last twenty when your chasing that elusive goal.

Granted I'd rather have a David Villa but we have to make do with the means we can live in we are not Chelsea or Man City.

We might have to deal in the bargain basement, still doesn't mean we have to buy this fourth-rate bag of sh*te!

no, but it's the financial situation G & H have left us in.

Other targets will be Kevin Davis, Kevin Nolan and Scott Parker!!
