      Scott Parker (West Ham)

Rafael Benitez keen to bring Scott Parker to Liverpool

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is reported to be preparing to make an audacious £6 million bid to sign Scott Parker from debt-ridden West Ham in the January transfer window.

The London club's future has been shrouded in uncertainty for some time now, and according to the Mirror, Benitez is looking to take advantage of the fact that Gianfranco Zola may be forced into cashing in on some of his better players in a bid to keep the club afloat.

With Liverpool's season crumbling having won just three matches in their last 15, Benitez is in dire need of new blood if they are to challenge for a Champions League spot.

Moreover with Javier Mascherano expected to leave Anfield next summer, midfielder Parker has all the credentials to be a suitable replacement.

Liverpool's latest disappointment came when they turned a 1-0 half-time lead into a 2-1 home defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a result which left them five points adrift of the top four.

Their next three games are must-win matches if they are to cut that deficit, with a trip to bottom club Portsmouth and a home match against struggling Wolves following the Wigan fixture tonight.

Carragher said it is imperative that Liverpool's improvement begins immediately.

"Wigan is a massive game for us," said the defender. "I've tried too many times down the years trying to work things out, so there's no point looking further ahead than that.

"We'll just try and get three points on Wednesday and then move on to Portsmouth. We've got to look at ourselves and realise that we've got to do much better.

"For the quality of the players and the stature of the club, we should be doing better. Statistics can change quickly and we have got to do that.

"It's tough at the moment but part of playing for Liverpool is having big character. That's what we need now.

"Between now and May it is going to be a grind at times but we have got to stick together, get through it and, as I'm doing every night, pray to God that at the end of the season there will be something worthwhile for what we've gone through, because it has been tough.

"I pray to God we win the FA Cup or the Europa League and we get in the top four, dust ourselves down at the end of the season and say 'It hasn't been so bad in the end', but at this moment it is tough."

I hope the stoty is rubbish. Another second rate player won't help our cause. And why on earth do we need him when we have 4 decent centre mids who are better than him. with our current money issues it would be madness to buy him. it would be like throwing 6 mil down the drain, not to mention he's injury prone.

Guess we're in there so and while were at it lets put golden arches over the
promised land so g+h can make themselves some more money. It might even
pay for the transfer. Lets get Ameobi while we're at it.

And no i didnt forget to put their names in capitals, they dont deserve them.

Now your making it seem more plausible. There will be a giant mcdonalds outlet in the new..ahem..
stadium along with a pub that only sells carlsberg ( like a sh*te festival ) and a bank for g+h to check
      their bank balance

You shouldnt have rafa on the avatar it means everytime someone disagrees with you or you correct
them they ll look at his face and automatically feel you know more than them ( in this case its quite valid)
but i cant argue with rafa.. look at him with his all knowing smirk

Im not a disbeliever its just everytime i go to respond its as if rafa is judging me
Wouldnt mind but i read his book and the man is a legend.
      Any back on topic.....
Parker is probably the only one out of some of the lesser lights mentioned that
id actually like in the squad.
That is of course accepting the fact that we have no money to bring in the likes
      of villa silva or mata

I never said you was a disbeliever!!!

Plus I love that face, looks like he's just had a fart.

Everytime I've seen Parker, he's looked alright, as for any signings I'd say I'm not sure, because we're broke!

      I've always liked Parker actually.

Not sure we need him though, and he's not exactly young either.

If we hadn't bough Aquilani then he'd be a good option, very good at what he does but very susceptible to getting cards.

The only reason rafa would go for Parker in my opinion is because he knows that one of his centre midfielders is going to leave. Maybe Masch's contract talks aren't going well as thought and Barcelona are looking more likely to offer a huge amount of cash.
Hope not, though have always liked Parker though not enough for him to wear the Red shirt.

Would this mean that Maschearno could be on the way out then?

Makes perfect business sense to me sell him for 30 mill buy his replacement for 6 million then have aspirations of winning the title and then when we dont we will blame Rafa becasuse he buys rubbish players. In the meantime take the 24 mill and pump them towards interest repayments.

      Well in H and G!
