Santa Cruz hits out at Rafa

Man City striker cannot understand Liverpool boss' 'guarantee'

Roque Santa Cruz has told Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez not to make promises he cannot keep.

Benitez stated last week that he could 'guarantee' Liverpool would finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

The Reds are currently eighth after a disappointing start and must improve considerably over the second half of the campaign to ensure UEFA Champions League qualification.

Manchester City striker Santa Cruz does not believe it was wise of Benitez to come out with such a bold statement.

"I don't think you can guarantee anything," the Paraguay international said in the Daily Express.

"It is hard to guarantee things, especially when things are not going in the right direction, like for Liverpool.

"Things are not going the way they would want them to and to guarantee things in that situation is hard."

This coming from a guy who plays for a team that has owners who think they will win everything straight away.

I don't think he is in any position to say this, hundreds of millions spent in 2 years and they have just sacked their manager and went 7 games without a win. Unless sacking your manager because he has spent more than anyone but yet still can't get to the top is moving in the right direction?

To be honest, I think he's right. In football you can never guarantee anything, and you certainly shouldn't do it publicly. I'm confident Rafa will get us fourth spot but I don't understand why he came out and said that when there is three other teams that look like they could actually break the Top 4. In my opinion it was a bad decision to come out and say that, there was absolutely no need to.

I hope you're referring to Santa Cruz and not my comment. If you are referring to mine, why don't you discuss why you think guaranteeing fourth spot publicly was a good decision instead of calling people "F***ing idiots".

Shouldn't Santa Cruz be more interested in what his own team are doing? Man city are not destroying the opposition as they thought they were expected to given their financial backing,Rafa has enough people having a go without this

The point being, to guarantee 4th spot this season, with everything going the way it has, and competiton from rivals that have seemingly vastly improved, is a RIDICULOUS thing to do. I would love to see Liverpool in the top 4 (even though settling for a mere 4th place is a joke itself). But with the injury crisis continuing, the player morale low, and decisions going the wrong way, as well as Spurs, Villa, and Man City offering increased competition, I realistically find it hard to believe.

Its hardly going to instill confidence and belief if he was to come out say I'm not arsed I'll settle for Europa League or Mid Table is it ?, that kind of complacency could reflect on players attitudes.

He should focus on making his place in City's starting XI a guarantee before shouting his mouth of about Rafa.

Surely this tit should be busy sorting presents out this time of year? :)

Last time I looked mate you were on the bench. All the millions in the world won't guarantee you success either. Especially if you f*ck the manager off every time it looks a bit lairy.

sh*t player, small club. Regardless of their new owners.

You can look at it either 2 ways.  He made the guarantee as a way to spark his team to winning or if they dont finish top 4 it could be a real bi*ch at the end of the season for Rafa. Some Sports guarantees have proved to be prophetic, some are the kiss of death. So, I guess we have to wait till the end of the season thats all.

So says the soft c**t who admits to booing his own team.

I admit I boo'd when Yossi was taken off

As for Santa Cruz, who really gives a toss what he has to say. Like every other pr**k who decides to have their say on our club when it's nothing to do with them, they can piss off. And that goes for everybody, whether they're praising or slagging us. I'm not one of these who thinks it's okay for somebody to come out and say how great we are then kick off if somebody says something bad about us because that's rather hypocritical. I'd rather the only people who spoke about our club are our players, managers and fans.

Oh no, I booed the decision to take off Yossi out of frustration at losing 3-1 and the fact that everyone else on The Kop was doing the same ONCE. Not like Ive been to 11 games this season, never left early, sang my heart out, protested against the yanks and stuck up for Rafa and all squad all season. What a soft c**t I am.

Dont be a pr**k lad. And stop negging me.

Keep the personal abuse off the forum please lads.

Personally, I couldn't care less what another team's player has to say about what comments our manager makes.

The important thing is, is what our manager says. And I hope it doesn't come back to bite him on his arse. Very confident it won't though.
