      Rafa laughs off Stevie rumours
Rafael Benitez today laughed off suggestions circulating in the media that there had been a disagreement with captain Steven Gerrard.

Some media outlets claimed the boss and his skipper had an argument at half time during the Reds' FA Cup defeat to Reading.

"We have been joking about the rumours in the media that there was a fight. There was nothing. We have been laughing about it," said the Liverpool manager.

Gerrard will again be absent from the side to face Tottenham tomorrow as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and Glen Johnson will also be missing, while the Reds will make a late check on Daniel Agger.

      Nice one Rafa.

Maybe that's because he thinks he will be letting the media win talking about a 'Gerrard Transfer' Ross?

Steven Gerrard slams rumours as 'daft' and says he is not leaving Liverpool
Steven Gerrard has moved to dispel rumours of a rift between him and Rafael Benítez, insisting he has “never had a problem” with his Spanish manager, and that suggestions that he is preparing to quit the club are “unfounded”.

      By Rory Smith
      Published: 7:30AM GMT 20 Jan 2010

Benítez has consistently dismissed the idea that Gerrard confronted his assistant, Mauricio Pellegrino, at half-time in the FA Cup defeat by Reading. His denials had failed to quash speculation that the England international may be ready to move on, however, after seeing Liverpool fail to capitalise on last season’s second place and mount a real title challenge.
Gerrard, though, has described such talk as “daft” and the product of “unbelievable imagination”, and remains adamant that his only focus is expediting his recovery from the hamstring injury picked up against the Championship side.

“I’ve heard about a dozen versions of the same rumour and they’re all as daft as each other,” Gerrard said. “I’d love to know who comes up with this kind of stuff because they must have an unbelievable imagination.
“Nothing happened. That is an absolute fact. If anyone thinks this nonsense unsettles either me or the club they’re mistaken. If anything it has brought everyone even closer together because we’ve all had a good laugh about it.
“In the time since he has been here I have never had a problem with the manager or his staff, and certainly not at half-time in the Reading game when I was actually receiving treatment for the injury I’d picked up during the first half.
“All the stories about me leaving are unfounded. The fans can be assured that I’m doing all I can to get back to top form and help Liverpool finish the season on a high.”
That task would be made easier should Liverpool, without Gerrard or Fernando Torres, avenge their opening-day defeat at White Hart Lane when Tottenham visit Anfield on Wednesday night.

This is what we have waited for from him, and good on the man. Hopefully that quietens the rumors a bit, and hopefully he means every word as well :)

Unfortunately we have to wait and see...

I don't see it being a chance, well that's all we hope and believe, but if we are very strapped with money and owners stay, stuff may happen. I think we all know is let's get some UAE oil mining people to buy out our US owners.

The lad said in the Echo that all this stuff is crap and if anything it's made the team stick together more so.
And why don't they include in the thread title all the other teams that would like his name on their teamsheet? It's all hypothetical so let's exaggerate things.
