We won't get him, we don't have the money to sign him.

We're supposedly trying to get him to sign a pre contract, so he'd cost nothing.

      You're referring to Chamakh?

We can get him because he is on a Bosman in the summer. His contract expires this summer, that is.

The time it's taken to sign Rodriguez, it will take until the summer to comlpete the Chamakh deal anyway.

The Rodriguez deal is going through at a lightning pace for us, we usually like to give everybody else a chance to hijack a deal first!

Do we really want players that are out of contract with Bordeaux?

      Just a thought.

I don't know if someone else has had the same reply to this as i've only read the first few posts, but here we go anyways. I know Bordeaux aren't exactly the biggest club around, and getting a free signing from them doesnt' look good, but you're probably assuming that Bordeaux dont' want to offer him a contract and he is being allowed to leave. I am willing to bet that Bordeaux want to keep him, but the lads head is being turned by the Premier League interest.

Rafael Benítez and Liverpool rival Arsenal for Marouane Chamakh

Liverpool are prepared to rival Arsenal for the signature of the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. Rafael Benítez will attempt to capitalise on uncertainty surrounding the Moroccan's future with an offer of a pre-contract agreement at Anfield.

The 25-year-old has been linked with Arsenal since last summer although Arsène Wenger, who is awaiting news on Nicklas Bendtner's groin injury before deciding whether to sign another forward, is yet to make a firm offer for the Moroccan.

That has alerted several clubs. Chamakh is out of contract with Bordeaux at the end of the season and free to sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club this month. Liverpool are understood to be the latest Premier League side to register an interest but any move would not take place until the summer.

Maxi Rodríguez is on the verge of a £1.5m move from Atlético Madrid to Anfield. Liverpool are attempting to sell Andrea Dossena, Andriy Voronin, Philipp Degen and Ryan Babel.

Please let that come true. If we get rid of at least three of the above i'll be happy.

I like Chamakh a lot. His link up play and ability to the hold the ball, is his strength. His only weakness is his finishing. But, so is it of the likes of Heskey, Cole and Jones etc who have done very well in the Premier League. Even though his finishing isn't that great he a monster in the air and would score a lot of goals from corners and set pieces. That's something which we are lacking dearly after Sami's departure. Also, he would add a new dimension to our attack and the best thing is he would come for free. Both Ngog and Torres offer the same somewhat or the other. So, we would have a Plan-B if we get Chamakh. Even Arsenal the so called 'attactive team' have a Plan-B, when they hoof it up for Bendtner. Same with Barca, when they went for Ibra as he added another thing to their attack. I am not a fan of hoofing it regularly, but it would be important weapon against some teams.

Perhaps if we can convince him to sign a pre contract, Bordeaux will let him finnish this season on loan to us, as he may not be in their plans due to his wish to move on. He says he will wait until the end of the season before making a decision, we need to persuade him otherwise or we may lose him to the Arse. He needs to be aware that half a season can make a big difference and he may get injured and not be wanted anywhere. He hopefully will make a decision in our favour then. Sounds o.k. for a freebie.

I hope we don't sign him to be honest. It'd be murder trying to come up with a song.

It would have to be something to the tune of 'Boom Shakalaka'.
