Losing Torres or Gerrard would be the end as far as I am concerned. You need quality players in your side to challenge for honours and those 2 leaving would be a disaster, you could forget about champions League for a good while.

I couldn't imagine a day of Liverpool FC without Stevie and Nando donning the famous red jersey of Liverpool!

But with those two clowns still running around Anfield making profits and choking us even more, I sense it could be true. If Liverpool were to be forced to sell both Nando and Stevie, Rafa will resign with immediate effect, leaving us a huge hole to cover. Plus with our current squad line up, there's no way we'll be the same without both of them. Torres has been a revelation here and Stevie has been instrumental for us.

I do believe and hope that this all were just some media bulls**t to put more pressure on us.

When I first saw the title of this thread the first reaction was to dismiss it as the managers worst scenario for the benefit of the American shitheads steering our club to destruction.
When you consider though the implications of our not qualifying for the champions league in the coming seasons not even attaining the "also ran" status and condemned to mid table mediocrity the managers' predictions do seem to have a ring of truth about them .
While Rafa is overstating the projected implications they are a feasible end game and the owners ignore him at their peril.

Summer Clear Out. Cant get the link to work but on Goal .com an article states that the scum have a plan for a mega summer player sale.
      To include players like Lazytov.

this seems to be the Glazer plan for summer  2010: for this year's £ 80,000,000  fund raising exercise.

The Glazers ?            Read Hicks / Gillett.

Just short of stories this weekend, it'll be a while before these two leave, it won't be in the summer.

Yeh if it makes us all feel better the scum need to sell 500m of bonds to keep their debts afloat and theyve being winning everything for the last 2 years more or less. Theyre in a much worse situation than us imo as theyre refinance plan is a 10-15 yr plan while we could have ours sorted a lot faster i think plus think we've a better chance of new investment..

Liverpool May Be Forced To Sell Fernando Torres To Compete In The Champions League - Report
In the midst of a UEFA financial crackdown, cash-strapped Liverpool may be forced to sell their talisman Fernando Torres.
      Jan 9, 2010 10:03:40 PM

According to the Daily Mail, Michel Platini is close to establishing strict financial criteria clubs must meet in order to participate in the Champions League.

Clubs that make consecutive losses over three seasons will be barred from the competition if the new regulations are passed by the UEFA organisation.

Clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be in trouble as both's respective owners have been writing off their clubs huge debts.

Chelsea posted a £44.4million loss last season which was their sixth consecutive season posting a massive loss.

Manchester City posted losses of £92m in Sheik Mansour’s first year of ownership and could match Chelsea's record loss of £140m from 2005 in the coming years.

With Liverpool posting a loss of £40.9m in 2008, the £40m sale of Torres would help offset the loss and allow the club to participate in the competition.

If Chelsea, Manchester City or Liverpool have any ambitions in the Champions League, the new proposed regulations might hinder their opportunities.

Great Excuse for Hicks and Gillett.
      Its all Platini's fault.
      Nothing to do with us.

PS. The money has come in handy though.
Luvverly ..............or whatever twisted Yanks say.

Don't know why the press are still persisting with this, it's not going to happen and i am 99.9% sure they have just taken something Rafa has said and blown it a million times out of proportion.

The only thing that can lead to Torres being sold is Torres signing for another club, often he's come out and reiterated his admiration and love for the club and city of Liverpool. So whether we fail to land a place in the top four or not, that still does not mean we will have to lose our star forward. If he loves this club as much as he claims to he'd be prepared to fight it out regardless of being the in the Champions League or not - the same goes for every player that claims to love the club. We as fans love the club and we won't be leaving it because we're not in the Champions League, so the players who "love the club" should show that same loyalty.

I'm sure the owners will be more than prepared to accept a hefty fee for any one of our players, Torres included, but that doesn't mean the player has to leave. The vast amount of players who'd bring in a proper amount in terms of a fee would know that they're still idolised by us. So they can't use the excuse of "I thought I wasn't wanted". They know they're wanted by us and the manager.

And if we fail to make a top four spot then the players and manager have a duty to the club to ensure we make it the following year.

So I'm not too worried as I expect Torres to prove his loyalty to the club by fighting to make sure we don't fail in 2010/11 even if we happen to this season.
