Im guessing no Maxi is the reason he refused to let Babel go in January then?

When was this announced... kinda lazy to include Nathan Eccleston in there considering he's gone on loan for the rest of the season.

that seems like a lot of players, i thought you could only bring 23 players into Europe, but maybe that's only Champions League

not gonna lie, don't know much about the Europa League, I just know we'll be playing some good sides that are at our level

Huddersfield have extended teenage Liverpool striker Nathan Eccleston's loan spell until the end of the season.

Pretty much just copied and pasted the entire squad.

Infact I'm fairly sure they've done that because Eccleston is on loan until the end of the season.

Eccleston could be included in order to fulfill an English player quota or something. Or the squad could have been submitted before his loan was extended.

To be in the Europa league is an embarassment to us. f**k it , I would rather concentrate on finishing 4th.

Hey, don't knock it, it's a trophy at the end of the day.

I know it's not the Champions League but we have no divine right to play in it when we played pretty crap.

Hope this a lesson learned, we get at least 4th in the Premiership table this season and we take Europe by storm next season.

That's an enormous amount of players in that squad, hope some of the young lads get a chance for a few games under their belt, will be good experience for them....... who am I trying to kid !

Good enough for Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and an opportunity for us to become the team that has won the most UEFA Cup's/Europa League's.

Good enough for Rafa Benitez' double title winning Valencia.

We're currently joint with Juventus and Inter Milan on 3 titles.

Have to say I disagree.  Great chance to land Liverpool's 9th major European trophy in our history.  I certainly don't want to see the kids out. I want us to do our very best to ensure we're lifting that trophy in May.

The desperation to attain 4th is a necessity from the clowns running the club.

And seeing as we have no money for transfers in the summer the chances of finishing 4th next season, or taking Europe by storm are even less likely than this year.

Until people finally wake up to the horror that is unfolding behind the scenes at the club then who knows - this could actually be the last time we play European football for a long time.

I wouldn't worry JD, they won't get a chance anyway  I reckon Pacheco's bum must be moulded to that red seat in the dug-out, he's sat on it so often.

I know what you're saying though, we are desperate for a trophy, let's hope we're lifting this one in Hamburg.

Does anyone know what date the final is?

What I could not understand is why maxi wont be able to play.

It is ok for a player who have played the in the Uefa Cup to play in the UCL (Diarra against us last season) but not the other way round.

What a f**king double standard by UEFA.

I'm not sure on the exact rules, but I can imagine that Maxi is ineligible because Atletico also qualified for the Europa League?

      edit:

I went to look at the UEFA rules, I found this:

18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
-in the same competition for another club; or
-for another club that is currently in the same competition.
Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League,
his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any
      point in the current season.
