I'll just keep checking the website for cancellations I guess, hoping for something at the end of August.
      Good luck mate!

OK guys, I could do with some advice and your opinions.

My lad has just passed his driving test (a month ago) he's going to Wales tomorrow with a couple of mates camping for a week, he's the only one who can drive and has his own car.

I have to say I'm really worried about him going as he has virtually no motorway driving experience, and he's going to be going on the M5, he's going down to St.David's in South Wales......why can't he go somewhere closer for a first trip  :f_wah:

Anyway, I want him to have a green 'P' plate on the back of his car so people know he's only just passed, he flatly refuses, saying that people will treat him differently and harass him, I say that hopefully people will give him a wide berth and be considerate towards him, as he's new to motorway driving.

As a regular motorway driver myself up to Liverpool on the M6, I know how daunting it can be, those lorries are bloody massive and can be quite scary especially when they pull out in front of you, am I worrying unnecessarily? or is he being too laid back?

My first time on a motorway was scary but after 10 minutes I was fine. Motorways are safer than normal roads. So they say!

Oh, best of luck StevieG123, my lad's best mate has her test tomorrow as well. This will be her 3rd time as well.

On a side note, my Son is driving to Gloucester for the weekend tomorrow on a photography wildlife workshop weekend, he can't wait. Since he passed his test two months ago, he's never in now  :o

Fingers crossed for you, let us know how it goes.

Unlucky Stevie123. At least you know you're not a terrible driver and only need to do a little bit more work to pass next time.

Cheers B, yeah i drove really well she said, got the major when changing lanes on a dual carriageway with a 40 limit, apparently I didn't look in my mirror enough and so 'forced another car to slow down' which i didn't agree with, left plenty of room when moving. Oh well, rebooked for the end of November.

Hard luck mate. I got 1 major three times!

Head up and keep going. That's all there is to it really!

Like you say, you know you're pretty decent if you've only come out with 1 major and 5 minors.

Only do 1 maneuver instead of 2, 10 minutes of 'private driving' where they show you a route outline and you have to follow it from memory rather than be told and then just the rest driving with them giving you directions although they will apparently make it harder by giving names rather than directions.

Good luck with the test StevieG123.

You didn't make him have one of those on his car did you, Cas? I'd say if someone seen a young lad driving with one of those on his car, he'd be vulnerable to knobheads arsing about and in turn making things more dangerous.
