Didn't say that about Everton though, did he? Mentioned a possible 7th place finish for them, I think.

      :D

Yeah ".. Or if Liverpool finish in fourth with Everton seventh.." :D

Maybe we should also have a play off for who wins the league?

      :D

      Very very good point.

I'm still thinking that an air of uncertainty with regards to Champions League entry will give us a kick up the hoop over our finances. If it was to come in that would be the only positive I could take from it. That we would have to stop relying on Champions League money to survive. It's a ridiculous business model.

It's like me basing my domestic budget on winning my footy bets every weekend. It might happen but it's definitely no certainty.

Thats why i love Rafa, never afaird to speak his mind - least hes speaking sense and i dont think thats just because it might cause us to miss out on the champions league

The only people who will back it up are the teams who float around the top half (Spurs, Everton, Villa and Fulham) maybe the reason Hodgson hasnt come out and backed it yet is because he will have egg on his face when it inevitably gets disregarded

Lets face it, the ONLY reason why Shitty, Spurs, Villa etc are in with a chance of 4th is because for ONE SEASON - we have been out of form.

It will, and always will be, the traditional top 4.  History states it, finances state it, and so do fanbases.

Do one Premier league directors, what a stupid bloody idea

Stupid idea!! What if the 4th place team finish 30 points ahead of the 7th place team, hardly fair. Once your garanteed a top 7 finish, you would rest your best players making it unfair on your opponents rivals.

      Indeed.

Just been listening to the radio driving home and it provided quite a laugh actually.

First it explained that it had been denied and it had the guy in charge give his reasons why. Then they played some short interviews with football fans about what they thought of the idea. They said they approved of it. Quite convenient that there were City and Everton supporters!

      Yeah it has been oppposed.

Radio 1 decided to play clips of what people thought anyway though.

To be honest it could've dealt us a blow or a major lifeline but even in that case I would still oppose the idea.

Just think it brings a 'Championship' feel to the league, and what would be the point in finishing 4th?

Two very good points. The Premiership is meant to be the top league in England so why would it adopt the structure of the Championship.

It was such a stupid idea it was almost laughable.

What they didn't mention is that they would not only have had to include the CL spot but the UEFA Cup spot as well. (to the runners up of this stupid tournament)

It would have been wholly unfair for 5th place to have gone in to the UEFA Cup and 4th to have maybe got knocked out of this little sh*t tournament.

Irrespective of whether we finish 4th or 7th, the team that finishes 4th deserves to go in the tournament if those are UEFA rules.

This was just an attempt by the Premier League to bleed more money out of the fans.

Unless the team in 5th won the Champion's League outright.

But that'd never happen of course. ;)
