Had a very good week betting. Well up for the week anyway.
Still the whole thing is overshadowed by the injury to JT McNamara. I really hope the lad is ok and can make a full recovery.
Did well in the end too mate but didn't start that great. Friday was my best day overall but could of won £1000's had Tennis Cap or Far West won. Had Jezki in the supreme, what a race that was, think all 3 of those are potentially very good indeed. Had simonsig in the arkle in quite a few bets but had Grandouet for the champion, think if it wouldn't of fallen it would of been there or thereabouts and typical that the fly won it as last year if it had won I would of won over £10k.
Had Quevega in the mares, incredible record and simply outclassed a bunch of poor horses for championship level really in the way it managed to win from a silly position after traffic problems.
On the Wednesday somehow got talked into Pont Alexander by all the hype after tipping The New One all over the place and missed out on a nice touch there, gutted from that one. Did Unioniste myself in the RSA, was a very disappointing run. Sprinter Sacre had in all my ante post bets etc and it won as I expected, if I'd known that Hills were offering 2/1 for over 10 lengths earlier I would of had a sizable bet on that.
Thursday the Pipe good think Dynaste let me down for a bucket load, as did Grand Crus last year, sick of Pipe horses I never do well with them. Had a large bet on Cue Card which got me started to a good finish, doubled it with Bobs Worth and was in quite a few accumulators. Did Oscar Whisky in the stayers even though I knew it wouldn't stay properly, still a very poor show from that, wouldn't of won again at 2m4f. Had the forecast in the fulk walwyn, 16/1 and 11/2 and had 4th for the tricast for 900/1.
Friday was my best day, even though the first race was probably my biggest disappointment looking back, had 2x2x2 and a 2x2x2x2x2 on Far West/Rolling Star with all other winners, was literally a flip of a coin between Rolling Star and Our Conor and managed to get the wrong one or would of been a good few grand up there. As mad as it may sound I don't think there's an awful lot between Far West and Our Conor as if you watch Far West in earlier races he needs to get worked up before he starts to respond and he didn't get after him early enough, having said that though Our Conor was mightily impressive but quotes for the champion in single figures is ridiculous.
Tennis Cap would of also won me 1000's but that boy Brian Cooper destroyed what could of been a very memorable Cheltenham for me, all 3 of his horses cost me a lot of money and he was basically my jinx of the entire week! Had a massive bet on At Fishers Cross and was in all my main bets for the week, was my nap for a long time and amazed it was about to go off as big as 4/1 before the none runner. Bobs Worth was also my tip for the gold cup in the end and even when it was getting niggled I expected it to win and in the end won cosily, quality horse in an old fashioned style. Did Cottage Oak in the Hunter Chase, but it didn't stay the trip and faded quite badly, Salisfy was very lucky to win and got a few of my friends a nice touch. Had Salubrious but with nothing else in the end as it was in the bet with Tennis Cap and the final race got a very nice few quid on Alderwood which was laid out for that race and got much better odds than it finished, also had the forecast with Kid Cassidy which I expected to jump better with Carberry on rather than McCoy.
So all in all a pretty good week that could have been fantastic, but when you're up you should never complain.
