      Premiership Fixtures 2007/08
      Jun 01, 2007 04:43:10 pm
Next season's footie fixtures are released on the 14th June.  We all know the 'random' nature of these things  ;)

I think we are due a home time first up so who will it be travelling to Anfield? Maybe the computer is waiting to see who we flog Bellamy too?

Personally I am hoping for a decent outfit, maybe Spurs, a morale boosting victory to really kick off the season.

My mate is a part time Derby fan like, wouldn't mind getting them, and then stuffing them :D

But I think we will get someone in the Caliber of Tottenham...

I think we'll get Birmingham at home.
As you say we are due a home game first, and we always seem to play a promoted team.

:D :D It would be worth it for the chants about the size of his head, on it's own!

I'll go for another midlands based side and say Villa.

Whoops, sorry! What I meant to say is I think we'll play either against Reading or Middlesborough followed by a team in the running for a European place for the 2008/9 season (not Eveton then!) but then what do I know?!  :soccer_h4h:

Too true!  My prediction is that Premiership fixtures will be released at around 10ish tomorrow morning.

Reading back through this thread maybe we shouldn get Birmingham at home if the world's 5th richest man is about to buy them.  Gillett and Hicks will have probably sold them Gerrard.

Boring is good at the start of the season! There is always a few silly results churned out, we just want a quit start and try to rack up maximum points. Nine points from the first three games would be Heaven!

Crunch time - 18th August. It's imperative we get an early lead on at least one of Chelsea or Utd, this will give us a perfect opportunity.

Next thing to do is now look at for SKY's schedule.

If I'm right in thinking, wasn't it mid October before we had a Saturday 3.00 KO at Anfield ?

They usually publish their schedule upto the Christmas period not long after the fixtures come out.

Hope like last season we keep the Sunday games toa minimum. Football belongs on a Saturday afternoon.

Overall they have been much kinder to us than last year. We have the 3 promoted teams in the first 7 games and a decent run in over christmas and new year where we should pick up maximum points ;)

I'm quite happy with the first three games. To be fair I'm quite glad we didn't get another promoted side like last season. They usually use nearly all their energy up in the first game and play soo tight at the back because they don't want a rollicking for their first game in the prem. Get six points from the first two games then give Chavski a good wolloping and I'll be chuffed to bits!! Start as we mean to go on this time!!

I work with a Villa fan :o and when I make a brew in the morning he is not allowed to let his Villa cup touch my Liverpool mug! I also point out from time to time that I went to Anfield on my birthday, October 28th (hence RED 10 28!) and we beat them 3-0, before half-time too!
We need some big performances this season otherwise we'll be scrapping for 3rd place again and that would be tragic. At least we can sort the Chavs out early on and go on from there.
Let's hope we hit the ground running this year!

No wonder we always seem to make dodgy starts to a season as being away for our first game is a lot trickier start than the rest of the ‘big four’ has, then usually if we get a draw at least we start the season two points behind the other three. The only solution then is to make sure we get off to a flyer and win away at villa.

      http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=471977&CPID=8&clid=14&lid=&title=Opta:+Opening+day+home+comforts&channel=&

It is not long since Manchester United regained their Premier League crown, but already attention has been focused on the new campaign with the release of the forthcoming season's fixture list.
Three of last season's top four sides will kick off their domestic campaigns in August with home fixtures. Champions Manchester United play host to Reading, Chelsea take on Birmingham at Stamford Bridge and Arsenal face metropolitan neighbours Fulham at the Emirates.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have to travel to Aston Villa on August 11th, a tricky encounter which will be their fourth opening day Premiership game played away from home in a row. Indeed, the Anfield giants have begun 10 of the their 15 campaigns so far with an away fixture, significantly more than any of the other 'Big Four'.
Arsenal, unlike The Reds, are used to starting the season on their own patch, with 11 out of their 15 curtain raisers occurring on home soil.
Despite that regular home advantage, Arsenal's 60 per cent win rate on opening day games ranks only second out of the top four behind current champions United, who have won 10 of their 15 opening day games to date.

red1028...if you do go and sit with the Villa supporters, obviously you can't wear your reds top...but would you be game enough to sing the song and shout support for the boys or is that a death wish? I'm just trying to get a feel of what it's like over there if you are forced to sit with the opposition.

I don't think I could go and see the boys play without wearing a Liverpool top, it would be like going swimming and not getting wet, impossible! As for the singing and shouting I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm not familiar with how Villa fans react when they've been infiltrated by an impostor :action-smiley-031:! but I guess they won't want to get the drinks in when we win!  ??? :ernaehrung004: :food-smiley-005:

Sitting with the opposition is not fun! But when I went it was Birmingham V Cardiff and only Birmingham scored so I just sat there hehe. But if Cardiff had scored, especially with the 100million chances we had in the last 5mins, I would've cheered and probably got jumped on by all the Brummies around me!! Kinda lucky I didn't.
A friend of mine went to Wolves V Cardiff last season when Cardiff fans were banned, around March time I think, and he got into the home and and we won 2-1 or 3-1, he said he'd never struggled to keep quiet so much in his life :lmao:

I hope I can come to Anfield again this season :hearts: :)

Mate, I'm just worried about you...I've seen Green Street Hooligans :boxing: and The Football Factory :boxing: and if there anything like what really goes on over there, then if I was in your place I'd probably sh*te myself being in the oppositions domain...they'd be even more pissed >:( when we beat them 3-0 and they see you proudly wearing your mighty fine RED top :scarf: ;)

Okay, here's a question for you all....
Would you go and sit with opposition fans proudly wearing your REDS top with the outside chance of getting your head caved in for celebrating wildly when E'to lays it off to Henry who then scores a 40 yard screamer to score a hat-trick before half-time!  :o :lmao:

RED1028 sits with the Villa fans in a Villa shirt, 10 minutes from the end if it's not going well, he runs onto the pitch and attacks the ref. The ref abandons the game and awards a 3-0 win to Liverpool. Redkenny gets his six stellas from Aussiered, who has promised to bring them over personally so will get to come to our fine country & hopefully stay here long enough to catch a match. Redkenny then sends me three of his beers for coming up with this great plan.

Everyone's happy! Me and Redkenny get three beers each, Aussiered gets to come to England & watch the mighty reds, and every other poster's happy as we win our first game of the season.

Oh, apart from RED1028, who gets nicked & probably gets a footie ban, never being able to watch his beloved reds again. Sorry Andy.

      Excellent start to the season.

So at 4.45 on the first day I can guarantee we won't be top.

Is there something missed off that list Smigger? Don't they usually do all the games up until the end of the year?

Me and Mr Villa supporter from work are going to attend the 1st game of the season together at Villa Park, it would be rude not to! I may have to sit amongst the Villa fans but at the risk of not seeing the game it seems a risk worth taking!
red1028...if you do go and sit with the Villa supporters, obviously you can't wear your reds top...but would you be game enough to sing the song and shout support for the boys or is that a death wish? I'm just trying to get a feel of what it's like over there if you are forced to sit with the opposition.
I don't think I could go and see the boys play without wearing a Liverpool top, it would be like going swimming and not getting wet, impossible! As for the singing and shouting I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm not familiar with how Villa fans react when they've been infiltrated by an impostor :action-smiley-031:! but I guess they won't want to get the drinks in when we win!  ??? :ernaehrung004: :food-smiley-005:
Mate, I'm just worried about you...I've seen Green Street Hooligans :boxing: and The Football Factory :boxing: and if there anything like what really goes on over there, then if I was in your place I'd probably sh*te myself being in the oppositions domain...they'd be even more pissed >:( when we beat them 3-0 and they see you proudly wearing your mighty fine RED top :scarf: ;)

Here's where my 'ideal scenario' falls apart!
Henry is not going to play for Liverpool as I had hoped for (given his skill / vision / ability and experience of the Prem  :'() It is sooooooo unlikley E'to will ever kick a ball in the Red shirt of Liverpool (this season at least ;) )
But all is not lost! Eddie C has a master plan that could shape (pear shape :D ) the whole season for us!
RED1028 sits with the Villa fans in a Villa shirt, 10 minutes from the end if it's not going well, he runs onto the pitch and attacks the ref. The ref abandons the game and awards a 3-0 win to Liverpool. :D :D :D :D :D

But now I have a whole new dilemma! The match is on August 11 at Villa Park at 4pm.
I have the opportunity to go somewhere I've been before (and really enjoyed), some 25 years ago, and do something I want and need to do! Confused?  ??? I am and I know what I'm talking about!

The event takes place in the Ramsey in Isle of Man at 9.30am on 12th August 2007. In October I have a big event which I need to train for. This event is crucial to my training and seems like a perfect excuse to re-visit the Isle of Man!  ;)
:ontopic:  Before I go in to too much detail my dilemma is I am almost definatley going to have to miss getting my head caved in for celebrating wildly as we rip Villa to bits with a screamer from Toress and Gerrard followed by a Riisse rocket then by Pennant setting Kuyt up for a knockdown to Crouchy who slams in a ridiculous arms and legs everywhere bicycle kick volley from 25 yards (or something like that! ) ;) :D
Anyone interested in my event will have to join me in the Amazing Adventures thread. The good thing is I will get to see the match anyway, if not live :'( I will still be alive, in one piece to celebrate!  :D

Absolute quality Eddie. You weren't in the A-Team by any chance were you?
Knowing our Andy, he'll probably be well equiped with a secret hot air ballon and a cunning disguise for his escape from the Villa fans and the bizz! ;) I reckon he'll be safe.

      Cheers for the info Smigger!
