Depends if his finger injury stopping him from not being able to hold a pen has recovered.

I've never been so disappointed in him as I am tonight. His performances of late have been nothing short of appalling and I am ashamed for him that he and his agent continue to disgrace themselves over this contract situation. The guy needs dropped and his head sorted.

Perfunctory in the extreme and boy does it stink.

Sterling at best seemed completely out of it and at worst completely unmotivated. Depends on how you want to look at it, I guess.

Regardless, I would have expected him to volunteer to take a penalty in one of the 5 spots.

      Fuc*ing useless tonight.

Wants a mans wage and isnt man enough to take a penalty ... would rather leave it to a defender to do the job.

Wants dropping for the city game. He cannot strike a ball with either foot ... his game intelligence is non existant as is his appetite and workrate these days.

Ibe head and shoulders a better player. Its not even close.

He should be ashamed of that performance tonight and he was not alone in that.

He ought to be ashamed of himself - the way he's playing and the way he has the audacity to ask for a ridiculous wage.

Slash his wages in half, don't increase them.

      F***ing useless at the moment.

I missed the game and agree that he should have taken a penalty.

But the way some of you seem to be turning on him is a bit ridiculous.

How much over reaction can be squeezed in so few posts?

Where was big Kolo when the pens were being dished out? The lad scored the winner in the Nations Cup only a week ago. Can't believe we're sticking the boot in based on hands going up for penno kicks

He missed his penalty last time. Maybe that had something to do with it.

The stick the lad is getting is bang out of order though, a few weeks ago people were singing his praises and saying what a good player he is. He's young and still learning, he isn't going to always play well. It's as though people think he is our worst player at the moment...which he certainly isn't, there are a darn sight more players that cause me concern than him.

Saying he should be ashamed of himself etc...Grow up, he has had a few bad games, name a player that doesn't have that. Guarantee if he put in a great performance or scores the winner against City none of you will be saying this.

The club and us supporters have done ourselves no favours where he is concerned, all looking to him for the past few months as though he is the answer to all our problems when Sturridge was out for 5 months. Christ he's a nipper, let him develop without being led to have the impression that he is our best and most important player.

      Totally agree.

Also notice quite a few seem to be turning on Sturridge as well when only a few months back he was beingheld up as the only one to save our season.

Some of the 'support' on here at times is an embarassment.

I don't think he had a terrible game. Certainly not his worst even this season. He was isolated a lot of the time out wide and struggled playing up front with a very poor Sturridge and slow Balotelli. Don't get the abuse he is getting at all. So what if he didn't take the fifth penno five of his team mates didn't take it either. He was obviously nervous about it and or preferred if a more experienced player went ahead of him. He has a weak shot at the best of times and it's not like he's an experienced penno taker.

Didn't earn a £1 of the £100k he's asking for tonight, worst performance by this lad in a very long time.

Should be ashamed not to put his hand up for one of the pens too, not good enough that Raheem.

I agree it was one of his worst performances.

As for pens, who knows if he did or didn't offer to take one? Perhap Rodgers chose the ones he felt looked/sounded confident when he asked?

Then he shouldn't hold out for the money he supposedly is. He should get paid "developing player" money.

Can't have it both ways. No other player on our squad is given leeway for poor performances, why should Sterling?

Everyone's going on about us being harsh, but if you are demanding top top wages, then you match that by playing like a top top player and stand up and be counted to match your wages.

He didn't do that tonight. He was utterly pathetic and if he wasn't so egotistical in his demands, I would sympathise. But because of the situation the lad has out himself under, I don't have any ounce of pity for him.

Yay let's blame Lovren for missing a penalty and knocking us out of the Europa League but will turn a completely blind eye to a woeful and half arsed performance to one our bright "stars" because F**k it he's young, undervalued and English.

That isn't to say we go and publically lash the lad it really shits me that people have one standard for some and then another for others.

So we aren't allowed to be critical of his performance?
