I've supported LFC for possibly forty years and about ten years ago was told by my grandmother's sister that her Uncle Charlie (Ashcroft) played for us after the war, possibly explaining my family's red devotion. I found out what little I could about him, but only realised today that he had been still alive - I was thrown by the fact that he was actually younger than my grandmother and her sister and as my grandmother died during WWII, I didn't have a lot of contact with that side of the family.
I wish I'd realised he this, maybe I'd have got in touch and told him about the influence he'd had on me and my family's life. Sent him a picture of my two young daughters in their LFC shirts.
This is a really nice thread. Respect.
