Villa in awe of 'magic' Torres

      http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/villa-in-awe-of-magic-torres

David Villa has praised the magical goalscoring ability of Fernando Torres and reckons the Liverpool star possesses attributes most forwards can only dream of.

The Valencia man acknowledges his Spanish strike-partner has had a difficult year with injuries, but is confident he will soon be back to his best in time to boost both club and country.

"Strikers live for goals, we have to score goals, it is what measures our performance," said Villa.

"At the moment he's (Torres) not having luck in front of goal (for Spain) but his work has been good for the team and we have to be happy with his work-rate.

"A striker with so much quality, such magic and so much experience, despite not having a good year, he is always dangerous and never do you want to face him.

"The power he has in the last few metres - in other things he is very good, but this is unique.

"The start, the power, I've never seen another player with that much power in the last few yards and perhaps that is what we as other strikers want."

David Villa hails 'magic' Liverpool FC star Fernando Torres

      http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-news/liverpool-fc/2010/03/04/david-villa-hails-magic-liverpool-fc-star-fernando-torres-55578-25958937/

Liverpool FC Striker Fernando Torres has been described as “magic” by international team-mate David Villa.

Valencia forward Villa has been linked with a move to Liverpool – as well as a number of their Premier League rivals – in the past but the current state of Merseysiders’ finances means signing the £35m-rated 28-year-old is an impossibility.

Instead, they are limited to international duty in order to play together.

“A striker with so much quality, such magic and so much experience, despite not having a good year, he is always dangerous and never do you want to face him,” Villa said.

“The power he has in the last few metres – in other things he is very good, but this is unique.

“The start, the power, I’ve never seen another player with that much power in the last few yards and perhaps that is what we as other strikers want.”

Meanwhile, highly-rated Palermo centre-back Simon Kjaer, 20, has sounded his desire for a move to Liverpool – and link up with international team-mate Daniel Agger.

Kjaer, who has two years left on his contract, said: “I will take a step towards the dream or I will stay in Palermo.

“I would prefer to have it sorted out before the World Cup. I am ready for a new challenge, but is has to be an attractive club.

“(The) Premier League is the best league in the world and then there is Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain.

“England and the physical playing style would probably suit me better. In case the right offers come, it would be exciting to form a partnership with (Daniel) Agger (at Liverpool).”

Bless they have a man love for each other. Nando always shouting for Villa to be signed and now Villa coming out praising Torres, I think I'm going to cry, it's like one of the movies when the guy doesn't get the girl and there is no happy ending. :D

God I would give a left bollock to have Nando and Villa up front. Apparently Simon Kjaer is a good player so IF we could get him signed that would be great. HINT HINT Tom and George

F**k Villa off. Not a fan at 35m for a 28 year old.

I'd be a fan if he helped win the league for the next three seasons, which would be rather possible considering the strike force we'd have.

Commercially how much do you think Villa would help the club in shirt sales Tv revenue, prize money etc if the club were fulfilling their Champions league and league ambitions ?

15 million per season is a pittance in the modern day football to land the holy grail.

'Welcome to the club David. Now win us the league or we're fu**ed financially.'

35m can fix three problems. We've been caught lacking in quality, and 35m can bring in alot of it across the team. That's my opinion.

Of course we have no one doubts we have, but lets remember senior Benitez has always operated under a sell to buy policy so say he has 35 million at his disposal he gets his man in Villa.

He sells the players lacking in quality Kuyt, Insua, Lucas, Babel and brings in better replacements which Rafa is more than capable of doing.

As an example Rafa offloads Lucas for say 10 million, Joe Cole may be available on a free, I know who I'd rather have Cole every time his wages may be high, but you have catered for that by getting him on a freebie zero nata. :)

To be honest I don't get where you get win the league or we are financially fu**ed from either, considering the 20 million from standard chartered was supposedly going into the transfer coffers and the sales of Voronin, Dossena & most likely Riera would give you about the 35 million required, I don't quite get where you are coming from mate.

Sells Insua, he has to buy 2 left backs now. Sells Babel, has to get 2 left wingers now. Sells Kuyt, has to be a winger who can play up top.

Insua would fetch about 5m. Babel about 10m. Kuyt about 10m.

      50m  = 2 left backs, 2 wingers, a midfielder, a winger/striker and a striker.

Of those two left backs, a class one will cost around 10m and a back up for around 4m, a class winger and a good one will cost 25m together, a winger/striker for about 10m a striker who can fill in around 15m and a midfielder around 10m.

      Around 75m right there.

Are we going to spend 75m in a window?

With sales of the players at  the prices you have mentioned Crouch plus the 35 million thats 60 million minus say 10 million for a quality midfielder if Joe Cole was available on a free thats 65 million not a million miles away is it mate.

      Its all hypothetical of course.

You will recall Purslow saying our wage bill isn't as big as most other teams so i doubt it's feasible.

And Joe Cole wants a 6 figure wage packet per week, hence why his contract is stalling along with the playing time. Carlo doesn't think he's worth 100,000+ to play a bit part so he'll go somewhere who will offer that.

      65m to buy 7 players.

And you want one for 35m so then we have 6 positions to fill for 30m.

Sorry mate, i don't think we can afford that kind of luxury.

Heinze? I thought that ship saled along time ago. Not good enough for us anymore imo. would rather go for bale or even lahm who could provide cover for either full back position.

for 2-5 million, get the jist of the post mate, it was theoretically fitting Silva and Villa into the side and scarificing one or two players along the way.

There's no guarantee that he will do that, and since he's 28-29 years old, you don't know how long he can perform like that.

All supposition, of course. I like Villa a lot, but will Rafa change the system to accomodate him? I seriously don't think so, his stubborness is one of his greatest attributes, while it is also one of his downfalls. Would Villa play in the hole in our current system? Not a chance. Torres will never be replaced up top, there's nobody better in world football than Nando. I really don't see where he would fit in to be honest, unless Rafa was to change the system to accomodate him. There's more chance of kicking sh*t into outer space. Nice idea, but highly improbable, yet not impossible. Let's get Silva, Mata and Kjaer, i'd be more than happy with that.

Villa looked first class in Europa matches the other night, Not as good as Agguero -Hope i've spelt that right- providing we get past Benfica we will get first hand experience of one of them.
Would love to see either of them partnering Nando, we would P*ss the title then

Aguero is probably worth the same as Villa.

Would you rather have a fellow Spaniard who is already 28 or an Argentine who is only about 22...

We need to build a younger squad coz some of our players are around the 30yr mark

I thought this was a bumped thread from when Torres single handedly broke Aston Villa's collective heart with some magic.

I also thought it was about David Villa lording our Nando's mad crazy goaling skills. It's not his transfer topic, which is just a big long story of disappointment.

Try and stay on topic, por favor amigos.

I thought this was a bumped thread from when Torres single handedly broke Aston Villa's collective heart with some magic.

I too thought it was about a £35m bid from Villa For Torres !

Villa's not worth 35m in my opinion ( I don't hate him, just think he's not worth it at his age !), although would pay that for Silva !

Why are people talking about signing Villa? Villa is talking about how he feels about Torres, nothing to do with him wanting to join Liverpool, plus it's all speculation anywho.
