I have a squier stratocaster but I dont get the time to practice, early mornigns and late nights and all that sh*t.

I am a total beginner - any tips please...??? I love rock music and the guitar and would really like to be able to play.

What should I do to start and to get my interest kicking in again, any suggestions.

      Thanks

Grab a few songs you really like together, get the Tablature for them and just play and play again.

Thanks Al but a few questions if you can help.

How do I know if the songs I like I will be able to play even at beginners level. One of favourite modernish songs is by Muse called Plug in baby but its more of a solo to start.

Would you suggest trying one song the whole way through or the start of 3 songs I pick.

      Thanks mate

Plug In Baby is more of an intermediate riff mate. I'd start with a few chord based songs, with a couple of simple riffs in.

Agreed mate, although I spent 3 days trying to nail Plug In Baby and once I got it I felt on top of the world.

SM - try stuff like Greenday for straight forward power chords and such. Modern Way of Letting Go by Idlewild taught me a bit too. As did most Hell is for Heroes stuff.

Paulrobbo hit it on the head with the chord based songs suggestion.

My advice since you seem to be a bit of a rock fan is to learn anything by AC/DC as not only is Malcolm Young a fantastic rhythm player but Phil Rudd is an atomic clock on the drums never going out of time once so this will help you in your timekeeping too.

Tears for Fears tribute from me. Piss easy chords, although I went for the Gary Jules cover as it translates much easier to an acoustic guitar.

Sounds rather good, especially when you get it into a bit of Spanish guitar using the plain chords. :D

Found the installation disc for my Line 6 Gear Box.

Got it prepared on my laptop and I'm playing again!

Didn't realise how much I missed having a good old jam to my favourite music.

My new guitar only just left the Epiphone factory yesterday and wont be here until after new year. Pfft. Thats my main Christmas present (allbeit if I paif for it myself) absent.

And the pick up switch on my current guitar has decided that Rhythm is an overrated selection and that it is no longer needed. Apparantly, all I need is Treble. Cheers.

Looking for a capo for my electric guitar.

Preferably as cheap as possible. Although would the cheapness affect much with this?

Just looking for some suggestions. Thanks!

I have a BC Rich Warlock back in Malaysia.

I'm kinda thinking whether I should like spend some money to get a Gibson or an Ibanez.

      Something like

Those are not the particular models I want but something similar in colour and shape.

As soon as I get the money to buy a lead I'm gonna rip out the rhythms to Holy Wars!
Till then I'm gonna stick to playing rumba... Spansish rhythms rock!
