Why have I opened a thread about what will happen if we dont get 4th but yet read mostly about Lucas?
Anyway we dont get 4th what happens is we get less cash and we dont play in the champions league next year which also means less cash which means less ability to buy players or pay the wages of the ones we have which might mean having to sell them which means the team gets weaker which means we will struggle to break top 6 never mind top 4
(The above is the opinion of Brian78 not general opinion and is worst case scenario)
At least someone on here is talking sense - there is a difference between optimism and blind faith - saying "we'll be just fine" or "we'll bounce back even better next season" is admirable but frankly its not facing up to the dier situation the club COULD face next season.
Lets talk about money for a second, presuming H&G are the owners still - if we don't get fourth, if anyone thinks there will be any money available needs to look at last season, got to the quarters in europe, finished second in the league, and were given what 15mil to spend?
Lets look at the teams that will most likely spend more than us in the summer, and tell me if i'm wrong here:
-Man City
-Man Utd
-Chelsea
-Arsenal
-Aston Villa
-Spurs
Obviously football is more than facts, figures, and money - but you are as only as good as the competition is, and we have to face the fact that we'll be at a sever disadvantage to our rivals next season if we don't get fourth, forget the delusions of grandieur. Then we can move on in the right direction.
