Just read that the Champions League ties are on this week. Barca are going to Milan by road and Lyon are going to Munich by road too.

Hopefully that's good news for our fixtures. Although a road trip would be a bit of a stretch.

Don't think a road trip to Madrid is acceptable at all, I remember going on a coach to Italy for my old school's football tour and it was the longest journey of my life. Not sure if a cross-European coach is really what our players need after playing a Monday night game, before having to come back and get ready for the weekend's match. Not enough time really.

I also doubt they'll 'switch' the fixtures around, seeing as the problem still applies to Atletico's players too!

Travelling to Madrid by Coach straight after the West Ham game, and then possibly back by Coach for Burnley  straight after spells bad news. Once again we are the mercy of Murdoch and these damn Monday Night matches

Read today they were considering a train.

Anybody know how long a train to Madrid would take.  A train from Liverpool to London is about 2 hours.  From London to Paris is about 2.5 hours.  With transfers etc you are looking at least at 5-6 hours to get from Liverpool to Paris.

Anyone know how long a train from Paris to Spain would take?

I think it's asking a bit too much to be honest.  Unless it was a sleeper train.

It can be done overnight JD (takes about 14 hours). Missus was looking at taking one of them from Barcelona but it was booked out.

Seems that Fulham are considering going by coach to Hamburg but then they played yesterday and it's not as long a drive as going to Madrid.

      Nightmare isn't it.

Especially when you think Atletico played last night which would leave them with a nice extra two day rest without a nightmare of a long journey.

Why dont we set off to Madrid now and leave the kids to take care of the league games, afterall 4th place is out of our hands, and we could be struggling in the league to seal european football next year, so winning the europa could be our only realistic route of European qualification for next season.
It will also give the kids some valuable experience.

Can someone tell me why we didn't play on the weekend? F***ing joke, there was nothing stopping a Saturday game. Instead we're playing Monday night, and have (potentially) a big semi 3 days later. The people who organize these things need a proper slap.

My thoughts exactly, we've played a Sunday/Monday games for the last few weeks now I believe?

UEFA: Both Champions League Semi Finals to go ahead.  Decision on Europa League awaited.

Both the Champions League semi-finals are 'gettable' to.

FC Barcelona are away to FC Internazionale Milano at 20.45CET on Tuesday and Olympique Lyonnais are at FC Bayern München 24 hours later.

In terms of the Europa League, Fulham have a far easier time getting to Hamburg from London.  Liverpool have by far the biggest transport issues.

I'd really like to know the thinking behind this fixture cos it makes no sense whatever.

I wonder if UEFA is secretly telling the refs to give Liverpool the advantage for the calls because of the travel issue....just trying to be positive out of a crap situation.
