Reds in chase for Barca youngster
7th Sep 2010 - Transfer Gossip
Barcelona defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window.
According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Liverpool along with Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are interested in Romeu, and the youngster is willing to move away from Barca.
His path to the first team has been blocked by the arrival of Javier Mascherano at the Camp Nou and he believes his best opportunity of game time will be to move away from the club.
Mascherano arrived at the end of the August transfer window and 18 year old Romeu has been on the cusp of the first team waiting for his chance after playing for Barcelona B and for Spain's U19s.
EPL rivals covet Nou Camp prodigy

According to reports in Spain, Premier League rivals Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are all monitoring Barcelona sensation Oriol Romeu.
Spanish daily Sports suggest Arsene Wenger is the favourite for the prodigious 18-year-old, who is yet to agree a contract extension having starred for the Barcelona reserve team last season.
The Gunners are ahead of their Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, while Everton have also allegedly shown an interest in a player that may struggle to break in to the La Liga club's first team setup following the arrival of Javier Mascherano and the competition posed by the established Sergio Busquets.
Sport describe the young Spaniard as a tough tackling and strong midfielder ideally suited to the robust style in the Premier League.
Although Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Liverpool all had the player monitored for the Barcelona reserves last season, Arsene Wenger is said to be the outright favourite to land the player should he fail to sign a new deal.
