How do you get to the match?
      Apr 26, 2010 08:07:15 pm
Well after years of flying into Liverpool or into Manchester or Birmingham to jump a train this boy is going oldschool on Thursday!!!

Its the 3 and a half hour ferry to Holyhead and a 2 and a half hour coach journey on to Liverpool. None of this 20 minute flight lark!!  And same journey again straight afterr the game (well after a bevvie or 3) So Ill set off from the house at 7am Thursday morning and 24 hours later will get back in the door!! Dying for it

How do the rest of you get to games?

      Oldschool!  ;D

Usually been either a walk down Utting Avenue straight to the ground or if I'm going for a bevvy before the game (which is usually the case because I know too many alcoholic reds) I'll jump the 14 bus down to the Cabbage.

Usually get the train into Manchester, then the train from Manchester into Liverpool Lime Street, taxi to the Cabbage for a few in there and then a walk down the road to the ground.

Hope you enjoy your trip mate. Hope we get trough to the final as well. Let have a big night on Thursday Redmen!

I know mine is off subject but this is how I watch my blood. Without them I won't live.

I pick a bus to Sliema (Maltese place, full of british pubs and English people), go to 'Lady D' Pub, it is named for Lady Diana.
Again I catch another bus to my place.

If not I will be on the seat hoping for a good stream.

Last time I went for the Benfica game I drove in the van and stayed in there for the night. Parked the van at Goodison for the match.

On a European night I take the train to Lime Street and walk up. No times for drink because by train barely makes it on time.

On the way back I get a lift from a few mates who live in Doncaster. Can't get a lift to the game with them as I'm usually not working in the Sheffield area unless it's a Monday or a Friday.

I go to www.lfcreds.com then click on The Kop and then finally click on the appropriate match thread ;D.

Nah when I lived in Liverpool, used to get the 81 from Speke, get off at the Maccies on Queens Drive and walk up.

      Proper missions.

I walk from County Road in Walton, through Stanley Park and either straight past the ground towards the Cabbage, or if time is not in abundance, I just go straight to the ground. :D

You guys who live so close to Anfield don't realise how lucky you are

I drive up to Liverpool, stay over after the game and usually come back the next day, having a few bevvies in the Cabbage before and after the game.

Sometimes I do a bit of shopping whilst I'm up there or visit relatives.

I don't like driving back on my own in the dark after a game, it's a long way on your tod.

If I'm travelling down on the day of a game its a trek; Subway from mine to centre of Glasgow. Train from Glasgow Central to Preston, then to Lime Street. Then to a pub, then taxi or walk to the ground walk.

It's better if I'm already down as I just do what I'm told by me dad, usually a taxi because we are lazy.

But i'm driving down for Thursday staying at my uncles and going back up on Friday. First exam on Saturday 9am...

Funnily enough, if Im feeling peckish I often nip to KFC before the game for a 3 piece variety meal, although it adds about half an hour onto my walking time going to the city centre. Worth it though.

That's not bad at all compared to years ago, it would cost you over a €100 and that's without beer money. Takes a lot out of you but its worth it really. Enjoy the trip pal.

      Def flying next time again!

Last time i was over, i left the house at quarter to 4 in the morning and got home at nearly 10 the next morning! Got a lift to belfast, bus down to dublin, boat to holyhead, then bus up to liverpool! And then the same crappy journey again home!

Although everything only cost me 79 quid (ticket included) so the travelling was a small price to pay! Saying that il never do it again ;D

Plane trip from Brisbane , Australia to Heathrow airport London . Car from Heathrow to Cardiff , Wales . Stay in Wales for a few weeks . Bus from Cardiff to Birmingham , change to another bus to go Castleford to watch Cas play Wigan in rugby league , stay overnight . Bus from Castleford back to London . Next day train from London back up to Liverpool .

Not sure how many miles that covers , but to see my first Premier League match live between my beloved Arsenal and another team that i respect and admire in Liverpool . At a ground that i have wanted to visit since i was a boy . To be at Anfield and hear YNWA with my own ears , to see Arshavin bang in his fourth in the 89th minute before Benayoun grabs his 2nd in the 94th minute for an amazing 4 - 4 draw .

      Was it worth it ?

Too fucken right it was  ;)

      Bollocks.

Cars in the dingle don't have any tyers. Better yet, they don't have cars down there. They're still travelling by horse and cart - wheelless carts an all. ;)
