Couldn't Cole just play on the left?  >:(

Or just rotate him with Gerrard and Cole in mid? I mean i just don't wanna loan him, then have Gerrard or Cole - or god forbid both, get injured and then be left with Aqua off in Italy, and the choice of Poulsen or Lucas left. And Masch, if still here.

So now Aquilani is leaving and Masch looks to be staying, then why did we get Poulsen? It doesn't make sense.

I thought to cover Masch's maybe departure. What the F**k is going on! 2 midfielders will be sat on the bench now - and both defensive.

We must be bringing an attacking midfielder in.

FEEL SORRY FOR THE LAD.  Alberto didnt really have a chance when he was brought in injured and let's be frank, could never have been able to replace the sublime Xabi (how important is that man for Spain and Real Madrid now?).  Alberto had a few good games last season and needs a few games NOW to get going (and I thought he'd get them with Joe Cole suspended).

Well I'm not surprised by this but i would rather have him with us.

He never had the chance to prove what he's got IMO, i really have high hopes for this fella.

      Keep him FFS

Everything you guys said above make much more sense then sending him on loan. Why does he have to play "every week as the number one man on the team sheet"?

He does need regular football, but that "number one" thing is bullshit. And if looking at the Liverpool squad, Roy thinks Aquilani can't regularly make it to the first XI, then I'm starting to doubt his judgement.

In theory, a loan "keeps" him with us and allows him to get back to playing at his best.  In reality, it's a graveyard and few players come back and integrate into the squad successfully.

If he gets loaned out to a less than popular Italian club then its bye bye Alberto. He's much better than that plus its an embarrassment to the lad.

If its a big Italian club then he is more than likely to make the move permanent after the loan.

I'm sick for him to be honest.

Why does everyone keep thinking he's an attacking midfielder? He's a central midfielder not an attacking one... He could do Gerrard's current job but without being solid, I think he's too weak for the Premier League.

edit: I still think he's a quality player though.

This is getting as weird as the Keane situation. I had really hoped to see the best of Alberto this season. Strange.

Are we right in assuming that this is a season long loan?

Doesnt make sense to me, he obviously a quality player who just hasnt proven himself fully in a red shirt yet, if he goes out on loan I really cant see him coming back.

As much as its not nice to admit it, we could be screaming out for him later on in the season as joe cole has had more of his fair share of injuries in the last couple of years. It really is headscratching this one!

Good to see everyone feeling the same way I do About this. It is obvious how much everyone loves him here and it would be really disappointing to see aqua leave. It just dosn't make sense, we bought him for 20 mil, when you spend that much you have to persevere and make it worth the money, at the moment it seems hodgson is being a little naive in sending him on loan, does he actually think aqua will want to come back if he has a successful loan spell?

Sorry Roy, but this is rubbish, change your mind and quick, he is a creative link, and Liverpool need players who can pass.

Lucas, Poulsen and Masch. Roy they are too similar. Masch could be on his way out.

The lad has never had any chance to gain any momentum, yet the likes of Lucas are first team starters week in week out and still haven't impressed.

We will never get the money we paid for him, so just play the lad. He will come good, I am sure of it!!

Couldn't Cole just play on the left?  >:(

According to my Chelsea mate, Cole wanted to play in the middle and Liverpool gave him that promise, that being one of the key factors in his move.
